I've been reading and watching this forum for some time now and the thought that some may be a little more Proud of where they went to school than they should be. I could be wrong but to me the purpose of a Bible college and seminary education ought to be,first to grow in Christ,to learn the Word of God so one can teach others, train to be a pastor, teacher,& discipler. My understanding of the title Doctor relates to the ability to teach when referring to relgeous education. In earlier times students were mentored and trained by thier pastors. My question would be what are the graduates doing? Are they preaching and teaching the Bible? Are they developing strong disciples? Are they witnessing? Is the pastor preaching and teaching in a manner that gets the message through instead of proving how much more spiritual he is because of his mastery of language than his parishoners? Is the church this undershepherd is leading fulfilling the great commission? Is the church feeding the poor, Visiting the prisoners, taking care of the widows?Does the church support Missionaries? Does the church support church planting? Is your church a mother church of new churches? These are the things I would want a Bible college or seminary to teach me. If the seminary or Bible college is accredited and highly acclaimed and does not teach and foster the above things then thier degrees are meaningless. I would'nt give one thin dime for a religeous degree from any of the ivy league colleges.I would'nt give a plug nickle for a religeous degree from a liberal Bible college or seminary regardless of thier accreditation.I get disturbed when I hear about some godless college professor who wrangles his/her way into a good school.A PhD from any of these schools only amounts to a Piled higher and Deeper. Show me lifelong Bible students who are soul winning , discipling, visitation ,praying, folks who got that way from a Bible college or seminary and that will be a school worth going to.
