Wow, ten African Americans who have accepted Reformed theology.

I would be embarrassed to publish an article like that, this is something that liberals do to try to persuade people they are not bigots (which actually leads you to believe that deep down they are).

I think the whole idea is racist, and of course is faulty as nothing in the bible leads one to this conclusion, it's an attempt to discredit scripture.

Which idea is racist, the radio programs or Reformed THeology?

Nothing in the Bible leads to which conclusion?

What is an attempt to discredit scripture? Reformed Theology or this series of radio programs?

I do not agree with arminians but I would never say that arminianism is just an attempt to discredit scripture!

This article reminds me of driving down the road and seeing state or city workers holding a sign that says,

    MEN AT WORK

If you are truly working, you don't have to hold up a big sign to tell people, they will observe you working. Usually when you see a fellow with a sign like this, you see five other fellows standing around doing nothing.

Google "Elder D.J. Ward, Check out the Sovereign Grace Bible Conference. Click on Messages in the menu and scroll down to his last message in the 2007 conference titled "The Election of Grace". Well worth the listen as many of the other messages on the various conferences. Whites have no lock on the Sovereignty of God issue!

I would say there is some truth to the above statement. But over the years I have met many African Americans who held to a Calvinistic view as well as other groups. I don't agree with that theology but I believe one could find those who believe it in any group who are Christians.

It isn't the same but look at country music and some might be surprised at the amount of African Americans and Hispanic who listen to it.

So what makes this article something to be spoken of the way you are speaking of it right now, and the article posted by your friend Skandelon, link provided by kyredneck above, different and something to be discussed seriously ?

also the MEN AT WORK sign is set up for twofold reasons. The safety of passersby and motorists, and the safety of the men working.

Just for clarity, there were actually two different threads. One was about a question a new Chinese convert who had just been introduced to Calvinism asked me. He wondered if God was a "racist" because it appears as if he hasn't chosen to save near as many of his people.

The other thread was about the resurgence of what the article referred to as neo-calvinists which indicated that a good majority, not all, were young white males.

Both of these are legitimate points of discussion and are not meant to be incendiary. If they were taken that way I do apologize.

It is amazing to me that this is an issue. As opposed as I am to Calvinism and Doctrines of Grace, not for one moment do I believe either are racist whatsoever.

What I find interesting is that why Calvinism and Doctrines of Grace appeals especially to young white men more than other groups.

I have been a musician for most of my life, and played in bands. I was always very conscious of what types of music appealed to certain groups. You would play an entirely different set of music to young white males than you would if your audience was female. You would play a different type of music to a rural audience than city folk. To work regularly you had to be aware of your audience and what type of music they liked. Young white men liked very loud and aggressive music, where young women liked something they could dance to. Older folks tend toward country or lighter styles of music.

So, this is fascinating that Calvinsim and Doctrines of Grace seem to appeal especially to young white men (generally speaking). And this must be so to a degree or you would not see articles like this, so the issue is there, and it is real.

uhmmm....have you ever gone out of the country ?
you know, far away places like where I come from.
I mean, really be there and meeting the people, in the market, the villages, the cities, the churches ?
you'd be surprised how strong Calvinism and the DoG (I'm beginning to like the sound of this word as long as it's pronounced dawg. hehe) are among a growing number of short brown people with flat noses and round black eyes.
Of course, there are also those who oppose.
I mean, what kind of world will this be without them ?

A few thousand miles northeast are the Koreans, many of them Presbyterians, a growing number among the Baptists, many of whom hold to Calvinism, a significant number of whom are "hypers", in fact.

And then there is China, once the bamboo curtain, bastion of Mao-zedung thought, and unbeknownst to the Chinese communist party, there were many "underground" believers who held on to the doctrines once delivered to the saints by Calvinist missionary Hudson Taylor of the China Inland mission.

That's funny, most of the people I know that hold to the doctrines of grace are not young, and many of them are women.

Someone in the last thread pointed out a fact that I thought was interesting:

I just wonder if there is some bent or tendency in certain races of people that draw them towards certain dogmas and teachings? Maybe we should call it, "Theological Racial Profiling?" :)
