The Father chose, Christ redeemed, the Spirit quickened or regenerated.

The Great Three in One agreeing and working as to the elect's salvation, each doing His own part and input, the elect inputting nothing at all. Grace in all its pristine purity.

opens his eyes, unstops his ears, makes him thirst for his Lord and Savior.
brings him back to spiritual union with his God.

didn't save him in the eternal sense. Christ did that before his regeneration.

does save him in the timely sense as only a quickened spirit desires to walk in the "narrow way".

know of this story about a Muslim in Pakistan. Born and raised Muslim, like a Filipino born and raised a Catholic. Practicing but not really understanding. Going thru the motions to please his parents, be a good Muslim, (like me becoming an altar boy and then a choir boy to please my grandparents).

Then one day he heard preaching about Jesus Christ.

    Floored him.

Listened to that broadcast everyday. Walked some miles to visit someone he knows to be a Christian to ask for a Bible, got a New Testament, and secretly read it.

Then, one day he just starts talking about Christ to all who would listen.

    Was ostracized, persecuted, finally, executed.

When do you think he was regenerated ?

Before, or after hearing the gospel ?

Dr Rogers has a great sermon on Gen 24 where Abraham sends Eleazer, his eldest servant, to the land of his fathers to find a bride for Isaac. This is the parallel under which, as an "ensample," we in the NT are to learn the activity of the Spirit in finding Christ a "bride," His church and each member thereof.

He goes to the well to meet he knows not who. He asks her to draw water -- draw from scripture or the Spirit. He shows her the wealth of his master and that his son inherits all.

Now one thing he doesn't do is club her over the head and make her come with him! But do you see the picture? It is still up to Rebekeh. If she won't go, there is nothing Eleazer can do to make her -- to change her mind. And Eleazer didn't pronounce her married to Isaac -- he merely presented the "proposal."

True, God said through Abraham where to go. That is like "preaching," right? God calls - we go - there may actually be some clues who we are looking for (like they came to our church/well or they are willing to look at scripture). Jesus was "replaying the same scene" with the Samaritan woman at the well, right?

    Does that help?

With reference to the unsaved world, the Spirit's work is to convict them of sin, righteousness, and judgement.

That is what I am asking about....your use of the words "unsaved world"....where is this "unsaved world" ? how many worlds do we have ?
can you elaborate further on what you mean by "unsaved world" ?

I'm sure its just to refer to the unsaved in the world. Really not much to it.

7Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
8And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

    Thanks for the reference TCGreek.
