FTR, The fact is that the liberals have been successful with their propaganda on Iraq- Their questioning of Bush's motives and honesty... as well as their harping and politicizing of real intelligence failures, have left us without the political will to defend ourselves. So much so that they have crippled Bush on Iran.

Like several here, they see Bush as a bigger, more threatening enemy than a country developing nuclear technology led by a guy who says the Holocaust is myth. Sadly, history may record this sad chapter as punctuated with a very large "Boom!".

How many Americans and others are you willing to have die for a deception FTR?

Nevermind I just read Scott's "liberal" attack. That's it boys and girls keep your eyes diverted from the truth. [IMG]

Sorry Scott, that's just so funny. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Globalism. The redistribution of wealth, resources, information, and technology from the haves to the have nots. That's socialism on a global scale. I thought all you so called "conservatives" were against socialism. </font>[/QUOTE]That is certainly a description that fits Clinton, but doesn't seem to fit Bush very well.

Deception or cautious prudence. You nor anyone else has proven that Bush intentionally misrepresented the intelligence presented to him prior to Iraq. In fact, the media, Congress, and hordes of fanatical anti-war zealots have come up empty. It just didn't happen. Get over it.

Bush believed the same intelligence everyone else with access believed. No one was saying that Saddam didn't have WMD's... not the French, not the Russians, not even the Democrats. They all agreed he did... but the French et al knew they would be caught with their hand in the proverbial cookie jar if the US took action.

If someone with the best ability to know told you that a rapist would break into your sister's or mother's house tonight, rape them, and kill them... would you do something to prevent it or would you do nothing and hope for no particular reason that this person was wrong? Now this rapist has already raped his own neighbors and even his family members. Prudence would demand that you do something. In fact, if you knew where the guy lived you'd probably want the police to go stop him before he got anywhere near your house.

Based on the info Bush had, he did the only thing a prudent leader could do. He prevented the threat from becoming reality... and in the meantime took a sadist out of power.

    Scott J,

Sadly, history may record this sad chapter as punctuated with a very large "Boom!".

Of course, the conspiracy theorists, if they and their/our families are alive, will simply say that that too is part of "the conspiracy".

According to the Bible codes, the US will be destroyed by a nuclear attack in 2010.

What truth would that be Poncho? That the Holocaust didn't occur? That the Mullahs are not interested in developing nukes? That they don't have a specific idea of how to use them against Israel and the west?... or the truth of those innane conspiracy theories that you lap up like JJ's Kool-Aid?

    Scott,

It doesn't appear poncho or anyone else can tell us what happened with Mrs. Olson. Maybe the conspiracy theory folks are holding them all in Idaho. It is indeed a tough question to answer without holding onto a Slim-Pickens-riding-the-missile answer. Maybe poncho is just too embarrassed at having no response but a shrug to the question. So much for the "intell whistle blowers".

I won't waste time with a laughing icon. I'll just simply shake my head.

Don't need a Bible code to suspect that might very well happen. As a pretrib/premillenialist, I have long thought that the US didn't fit into end time prophecy and suspected that we would cease to exist as a power before then.

Either way, I think the stage is set for people like Poncho and unfortunately Ken, who I admire, to get their way. We probably won't do anything because of the politics. Iran probably will have nukes sooner than anyone expects- possibly in cooperation with N Korea and clandestine interaction with Russia... who still wants a foothold in the Middle East and a place at the table.

Iran is led by Islamic fanatics- and that isn't a new situation Poncho. It has been true for years now. They believe in conversion at the end of the sword... or the tip of a missile. We, the Great Satan, are a significant obstacle to that end as well as Israel's great protector. I don't expect diplomacy or any of that. I think they will strike suddenly and decisively using terrorists as a cover to prevent retaliation by us or Europe.

This Bible Codes stuff is absolute nonsense. No learned Christian should fall for it.

The same thing was said about Iraq before we invaded it - and that supposed "intelligence" was sure wrong.

Before my fellow Christians decide once again to start bombing another Muslim country all over the place and killing more civilians how about some proof that Iran is actually trying to build a nuclear bomb AND that if Iran does build a nuclear bomb that it intends to use it in a first strike.

If proof cannot be provided to meet that threshold, then I will not support military action against Iran on this issue regardless of who the president is.

Thomas Jefferson stated that the U.S. should have commerce with all nations. And the Founding Fathers were pretty smart people.

Pretty profound. Jefferson also didn't take any crap off the Barbary pirates. He certainly didn't seek to expand relations with them.

    Proof please:

    1) That Iran is trying build a nuclear bomb,

    AND

    2) That Iran intends to use a nuclear bomb(if it indeed builds one) in a first strike.

I bought the pig in a poke that the Bush administration sold leading up to invading Iraq. I'm not buying into another one.
