Don't worry mate, the BB standards of weirdness had to be redefined when I got here ;)

If my local bookshop down this way has your CD I'll give it a listen [IMG] Jerusalem Arise is one of my favourite releases of last couple of years [IMG]

    ::::blushes:::::

    thanks ya'll and shalom

This is straying from the original topic but I am concerned about the way the christian music industry is going. My label recently left Provident Distribution because they were bought by BMG... a German company who admitted to being the publisher of Nazi propoganda during the Third Reich.

Since we are reaching out with the gospel to jews, it just seemed like a conflict so we went looking for a new distributor. EMI (Sparrow, Forefront) have always been secularly owned and Word is now run by Warner Bros...as in Time Warner AOL

Thank God, many of the executives from Provident left to form the ONLY major christian owned distributor - Butterfly/Diamante

And we moved there also. They are so much smaller than the Big 3 but at least we don't have to explain why we do what we do to them.

I am wondering how long it will be before Time-Warner AOL is dictating what "worship music" is in the church...they recently bought the right to control who does it.

So all you songwriters keep writing! We might not be able to get any good music from the major labels in the future!

    Lets see here.

1-I write all my own songs (Lyric Wise)
2-I write all the music to the songs
    3-I sing all my songs
4-I take pride in what i do for the lord
5-All the songs i write are either Contemporary Praise songs or Christian Rock songs

    Greetings,

My name is Clint Kerns and I am new to the forum but I am a songwriter / music director / recording engineer. I have been writing since I was 16, I will turn 40 in a few days. I have been fortunate enough to have had a song recorded by Tony Gore (Southern Gospel Artist) and I direct a 70 member youth choir that has recorded several of my songs. My website is ChurchChoirMusic.com You can visit there and click on the Mp3 page to hear the songs the Youth choir have recorded. You can click on the product page to hear some of my own recordings. I look forward to hearing from some of you. [email protected] [IMG]

I'm not much of a songwriter, since I'm not good with lyrics, but I am a composer!

Currently being completed in my notebooks are a requiem (Brahms style, with texts I've selected from English Bibles), a piano sonata, a romanza, a rhapsody, a fanasia, and an alma mater for a local college (just completed).

Composing is pretty much the main thing I do every day...if I'm not on the piano, I'm playing the keyboard up in my room. I usually can't get to sleep untill I finish a composition that I'm working on. Lately I've been averaging writing a new song every week. I can't get off the piano!!! I love playing and I love letting the Lord speak through me through music. The times when I write the best songs are when I'm totally upset about something and am just crying out to God through my music. It's so amazing...

I have written one song all by myself, and the lyrics to another (and my friend wrote the music) They are just simple songs. One turned out to be more of a prayer than anything else. I'd like to write more, but getting the music in my head to match the words on the paper is the hardest part.

    Welcome Grace!

Many times it's difficult for me to come up with music for my lyrics. For me, even an inspiration can happen quickly, and a lyric written, but it's a long time before I can call it finished. I go through drafts, and rewrites... I'm very critical of my own work. But that's mostly because I want to put the best song together to tell of how awesome Christ is, or what He's done for me. He deserves the best I can give Him, and that's why some songs take years to complete. Take heart... many folks only write the lyrics or only the music. You need to team up with an inspired musician to partner your lyrics with the music they need to "sing." Good luck to you, and I'm thankful that God is raising up songwriters from all over, even if no one ever hears their songs but God. God bless...

    In His Grip,
    joshua
