A source said today that Gov. Rod Blagojevich was taken into federal custody at his North Side home this morning. The U.S. attorney's office would not confirm the information.

A Blagojevich spokesman said he was unaware of the development. "Haven't heard anything -- you are first to call," Lucio Guerrero said in an e-mail.

The stunning, early morning visit by authorities to the governor's North Side home came amid revelations that federal investigators had recorded the governor with the cooperation of a longtime confidant and had begun to focus on the possibility that the process of choosing a Senate successor to President-elect Barack Obama could be tainted by pay-to-play politics.

To the surprise of exactly nobody, yet another Illinois governor is accused of abusing his power for his own personal gain.

Did you know that the governor before Blagojevich is currently in prison because of his conviction on corruption charges? Would it interest you to know that he's a Republican?

Democrat, Republican, what does it matter. It seems like if you are the Gov. of Illinois the you are corrupt. Power corrupts it's as simple as that.

    You are absolutely right...

But what is is about "Chicago Politicians"? Why has Chicago been given the reputation for Corruption? Is it coincidence, or is there something in the water of Chicago that breeds corruption, or is there another reason.

    Power corrupts.. true...

But Why don't we hear about corruption say in Jacksonville FL? or Cincinnatti OH, or Toledo, OH, or any other cities in the US...

It has to be going on there as well...

    Corruption is bipartisan.

I find it disheartening no matter which party it is.

Well now, how much work will Obama have to put into distancing himself from another shady character.

And this is where our new president comes from. Anyone on this forum know how he won his first election? By getting his competitors kicked off the ticket.

I would still like to know how much of that $750 million he raised came from illegal foreign sources.

Let us think about this problem. If San Francisco is Sodom by the Sea, what is Chicago?

The sad thing...if an election were held today, Blagojevich would likely be re-elected.

The majority of Chicagoans ask for corruption...they keep voting it in.

You keep eluding to the "New Type of Christian Political Discussion" thread. If you would bother to actually read that thread, you will see that I did not agree to anything posted there. In fact, the only two comments I made was: "Wow! Where are all the hyper-conservatives at?" and "I forgive you!"

As it turns out, I need to repeat my comment of "I forgive you" and apply it to you, for bearing false witness against me. I guess it would be too much to expect an apology from you, or would it?

I agree. Chicago is known for producing corruption. Let's see what becomes of Obama. He already has questionable connections. Follow the money.

I guess those who support him really enjoyed his political maneuvering.

Blagojevich is out on bail. If he appoints himself as Senator perhaps the dems in the US Senate will rally around him. Illinois could then be represented by a crook and one who thinks of the American Soldier as a jack-booted thug. That is on par with being previously represented by two Marxists.

Obama is steeped in the traditions of Chicago politics.

Wanna see how effective he has been as a "community organizer", state senator and U.S Senator?

Take a look at the crime rate and poverty on the south side of Chicago and get a preview of how successful his "organizing" wil be on a federal level.

I know one "organizer" that has already been there.
