    A Question for Southern Baptists.

If Calvinism is Wrong and you're a Southern Baptist then how can you continue to support the Cooperative Program when some of your offering is going to support Calvinistic Teachers in Southern Baptist Seminaries?

It isn't big enough of an issue to justify not supporting the CP.

Is the SBC Calvinist in doctrine? I can't really tell by reading their evasive doctrinal statement...

The BFM is basically neutral except for Perseverance of the Saints.

Doesn't the same question apply to Calvinist Southern Baptists who support Arminian teachers at the seminary??

The original post was for Southern Baptists. I don't think you qualify.

</font>[/QUOTE]Then I suppose it comes down to just how wrong we think each other's beliefs really are!

I have to assume that each side considers the other's views to be "dead wrong". (The comments on the C/A area are any indicator)

However if we assume that there are Bible teachers on both sides of the isle teaching at the seminary -- they both have the same problem with how they support the seminary, do they not?

Since I am not SB - I don't have the problem. (Our seminar only teaches the Arminian POV as "valid". )

Since you bring up the question - I wonder how you solve it for your self seeing that you are Calvinist and you have Arminianism promoted at the Seminary by some of the staff.

    In Christ,

    Bob

5 and 6 point Calvinism is on the rise in the SBC. Just look at Mohler and Southern Seminary.

Still - it is a mixed bag at the semanries. If it does not really matter to Calvinist supporters - maybe it also does not matter that much to Arminian ones either.

Wow, did Calvin rise from the dead and add some more points?

Most people in my church would have NO idea who these 'fellas' are.

Some nonSBC Calvinists see the increase in Calvinistic professors and students as a threat to the status quo.

SBC Calvinists see it as a positive change that moves us closer to our heritage and origins.

Therefore we are willing to support the Cooperative Program enthusiastically since we are seeing progress in the right direction.

Calvin I can understand them not knowing about but Mohler?

Surely they would remember that he was the Editor of the Christian Index in Georgia before he became President of Southern Seminary?

    Hardsheller, we were discussing C/A.

AGAIN, SIX points? Was this a John Smith type revelation. Talking into some hat while wifey writes down the 'revelations'? [IMG]

No we were talking about Southern Baptists and their support of Calvinist Teaching and Doctrine through the CP.

As far as 6 points go - I'm not familiar with any 6 point Calvinism.
