I find that to be very, very surprising as most SBCers I know believe in a pre-trib "rapture" and a literal, physical earthly kingdom for 1000 years.

Personally, I have no use for dispensational premillennialism, I am conservative, use the ESV, don't object to all divorces, do object to women "preachers", don't object to drinking as long as one does not get drunk, don't object to smoking, don't object to limited gambling, definitely not Bapticostal.
</font>
I'm pretty much along with you. The only disagreement I might have is on the drinking bit and not because of my beliefs, but because of people I have seen who cannot just have one or two drinks. I have had to handle so many drunks who have ruined their families that drinking at almost any level turns my stomach, but if you can drink moderately without getting drunk, I won't fault you for that. Same with gambling, if it can be controlled. I've also seen many a person destroy a family and get into major debt because gambling becomes an addiction.

The problem is, that it is hard to play with these addictive items without knowing whether or not the person will have the addictive personality and cannot handle it. It is often too late, before they know it they are hooked.

Outside of that, I personally can walk into a Casino in Vegas and spend thirty dollars and walk out with my winnings (if any) without regambling them. This is what the casinos, don't like so they cater to those that are hooked.

I'm not blasting your beliefs, I am agreeing, but I am also saying that personally I would rather tell someone to abstain than risk it.

Then those people should refrain from consuming alcohol. That doesn't mean that everyone must refrain from consuming alcohol.

Most of the people in my church have never heard of it, meaning they've never had a pastor who taught it. </font>
You are truly blessed! [IMG]

Going into all the world and preaching the good news to all creation is a calling to all believers, regardless of gender, age, race, etc.

Everyone is commanded to make disciples. Read Mt. 28:19,20 and then Mt. 4:19.

Really not interested in opinion or weightless parrot answers.

Going into all the world and preaching the good news to all creation is a calling to all believers, regardless of gender, age, race, etc. It's self explanitory. You're presuming a ban where one does nto exist.
The Great Commission is self-evident. There is no ban on women in teh Great Commission. Period.

You continue to give your scripted answer. You haven't even posted the passage you're insisting commands women to preach. You need to go and study the passages and ask yourself some basic questions.

I don't know why this thread had an attack on the Old Scofield Bible a while back. I don't believe in some of his notes, specifically in the dispensational theory of his, but you know there is a difference between the scripture and the commentary.

For the record I am currently a member of a IFB church but my message last Sunday was preached filling in across town at a SBC church, and yes my text was read from an old fashioned KVJ Scofield reference Bible. (It is black too, does that scare you?)

I have pastored SBC and Independent churches and I really dislike it when people try to put everyone in a category. A former pastor told me many times, be a Christian with a Capital C and a baptist with a little b.

Gershom, if you are really interested in the difference between SBC and IFB churches the real answer lies in the Cooperative fund and the Mission board. Theologically they are the same although major differences occur from church to church. Where they differ the most is in how they share and spend their money.

On the contrary, it is YOU who is giving a scripted answer. The Great Commission is self-evident. It's right there in front of you. No ban on women preaching the Gospel. None.

The Great Commission commands all believers to preach the Gospel, regardless of gender.
Let's study the Great Commission: Whom does the Great COmmission apply to today? All believers. Does the Great Commission forbid women from preaching the Gospel? No. 'Nuff said.

Now, since you're making an assertion, perhaps you'd like to post scripture to back up your assertion.

Seeing that I am not of the popular belief, chances are that my answer is not a parrot answer at all. Nice try. BTW, I've not been asked questions to even have the opportunity to give a scripted answer.

Polly wanna cracker? hehe.

Yeah... okay. Priceless exegesis.

Nice try. I asked a question and YOU asserted. I understand you're wanting to back out, but you ain't. Answer the question:

Can you show me from the Great Comission where women are commanded to preach?

You keep repeating yourself over and over again, even though your question has been answered. You refuse to accept the obvious as the answer.

Take that up with God. He's the one who can't make it any more clear to you.
The asme place where the Great Comission commands men to preach. Youre question has been answered. Now, answer my question. Where in scripture does it say that women are forbidden from preaching the Gospel?

Stop playing games and post the Scripture you claim commands women to preach.
