Do you think that you have ever seen an angel? If so, please take time to tell us about the experience.

If you mean in a Hebrews 13:2 sense, undoubtedly many of us probably have without realizing it.

Other than that, I can't say that I have seen one, but I am sure that if there is such a thing as guardian angels, I have benefited from them more than once! One time in particular comes to mind. I had climbed a tree (maybe in 4th grade) and was standing on a branch 20-40 ft in the air when all of sudden the branch broke (nothing was under me) and the next thing I know my hands were grasping a vine and I was dangling inches above an old metal BB scoreboard. I was able to reach the scoreboard and climb down it.

Sorry that was a little off topic, but that's the best I have.

Why do we need a guardian angel if we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit?

 I was afraid someone would take that statement too seriously.

Why do angels exist at all if God is all powerful? And why would Jesus need the protection of Angels?
    Matthew 26:53
"Or do you think that I cannot appeal to My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels?

    Psalm 91:11-12
11For He will give His angels charge concerning you,
To guard you in all your ways.
12They will bear you up in their hands,
That you do not strike your foot against a stone.

I was not espousing a belief in guardian angels. Nor have I ever told God "Thank you Lord for the protection you have given me thru my guardian angel". But I don't think it's hersesy to speculate whether they exist.

But perhaps your comment was in jest, it's hard to tell on these things sometime. ;) If so, sorry.

Anyway, this is definitely way off topic. My apologies mima. This will be my last post anywhere probably until next week. Have a good weekend everyone!

Probably, but didn't know it. Scripture speaks of many entertaining angels unawares, so I or about any of us may well have.

Thanks for the compliment I don't deserve. My post may or may not be another matter.

Tim, I really wanted to say my sweet bride, too, but figured that was not exactly what was referred to.

As stated by others, I'm sure I've seen angels "unawares", but I think I may have "seen" one once. I had very important appointment that I could not miss. I was afraid of sleeping through my alarm, which I've done on occassion, so I asked the Lord to help me rise on time.

In a dream a man in a white robe was standing at my bedside. He said, "It's time to get up," and he touched my forehead. My eyes opened and I was fully awake. No grogginess whatever. I looked at my clock just in time to see it click over and the alarm went off.

You know how the feeling of a touch lingers just a small time afterward? I could still feel the touch on my forehead when I got up. I believe it was an angel, even if he did speak to me in a dream.

==I really don't know. To be honest I think it would be hard to tell considering Hebrews 13:2. However I don't doubt that angels are very active in our world today.

==Why does God need angels at all for that matter? The Bible teaches the truth of angels and thus we have to accept that. Are there guardian angels? Yes, I do believe that believers in Christ have what we could call "guardian angels". What do I base this on? Scripture of course.

"Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?" Heb 1:14

So part of what angels do is help believers. Whether that is the guardian angel role that some people learn as children or not maybe up for debate. What is not up for debate, however, is that angels "render service for the sake of" believers in Christ. After all did not the Lord send an angel to help Peter (Acts 12:7-10)? Sure He did. Does God send angels to help us as well? When I read passages like Hebrews 1:14 I am sure He does. He may not always do it in such amazing ways but He does send angels to help believers.

However, like Peter, we must always give thanks and credit to the Lord (see vss 11 and 17). We should never worship, nor pray to, angels. Nor should we spend our time looking for them. Instead we need to continue to look to Jesus.

So are there guardian angels? In a sense I believe there are.

    In Christ,
    Martin.

I have seen angels, but won't share about it here. It was a personal and private experience.

    Guardian Angels? Probably! [IMG]

In fact, "What's-her-face" is always talking about them on 'Montel'.
And we certainly have little question (Cough! Gasp! Choke! Wheeze!) about her orthodoxy!

I was in a service one time where the evangelist exclaimed that there were angels flying around in the blacony. Funny, he was the only one who could see them.
I think, like others have said, I have probably seen one a time or two and didnt know it.
Lady Eagle, I would like to hear of your experience. You could share by PM if you'd feel comfortable. If not, that's fine too.

This would be very hard to prove. For if our guardian angels did appear before us, they would take on an everyday human form. They could appear to us as an everyday person walking right beside us. But yes, I certainly believe we all have a guardian angel who has been appointed to watch over us, but only as God directs.

If God willed that it was time for us to die by sickness or an accident then our angel could not interfere, but only be allowed to be there to guide us when our soul crosses over in death.

There have been death bed experiences I have read of, where Christians when dying have seen angels as they were about to leave their bodies. There is no doubt that numerous angels war against each other in this world over the kingdoms of this world. I believe that is written in the book of Daniel somewhere. We just can't see them with our human eye.

I have never seen an angel, and don't really want to until I'm in Heaven. [IMG]

However, I had an aunt that I was very close to. She was very near death in the ICU, and she told me she saw an angel. He was standing beside her bed, and was dressed in a long flowing robe. He also had a flaming sword in his hand. She told me that he gave her a choice: go home to Heaven, or wait a little while longer here on earth. She chose to wait until her granddaughter graduated from High School.

She did indeed live to see her granddaughter graduate. She passed away that fall, after being ill for over 2 years.

I don't know if the experience was a legitimate "angel sighting" or a dream, or effects of the medication, but she insisted it was real. Who knows?

Anyone see "The End of the Spear"? The Wadani (sp?) that killed the missionaries claimed to have seen angels.

    I saw it. Great movie.
My cousin was in a coma after a car accident and claimed she saw an angel. She also saw our grandparents, one of whom she had never met, and was able to describe him perfectly, so we are told. (I never met him either.) Both of them talked to her. And they were Mormon, so I dont really put alot of stock in that kind of angel sightings.
