TNN, which used to be "The Nashville Network," and put some trash in its programming and became "The National Network" is now abandoning all morality and becoming "Spike TV," the first TV network for men.

You can imagine what the new programming is destined to contain. I have included a link to the comment page in hopes that as many people as possible will give input demonstrating disappointment with their displays of lewdness and immorality.

It's just a shame to remember how TNN started and where it is now. I remember some of those good shows and music, but they have abandoned the wholesome in favor of the lewd and obnoxious.

Here it is. Please take action.

Thanks for the link USN. I have left my comments, but I doubt they'll be published!

I saw one commercial for Spike TV and didn't even finish watching the commercial!

Just what we needed...another TV station to poison the minds of our teen-age boys!

Good grief, you won't be able to watch anything on there anymore. It's the only channel have with Star Trek NG on it too, I guess so long to anything decent.

I remember the Nashville Networked. As far as the programming that was on it at the time, well I think the phrase "stunk" comes to mind. viewership was incredibly low, which is why the abandoned the country format and became "The National Network".

The switch to becoming "Spike TV" is old news. I first heard about it months ago. Currently on my cable lineup, there are two channels geared towards women: Oxygen (aka, Oh!) and We. Spike TV will be the first channel geared towards a primarily male audience. Programming on Spike TV will include such shows as Star Trek:TNG, CSI, and a prime time version of Ren & Stimpy (woohoo!!). Also joining the lineup in the next season will be Star Trek: Voyager.

If you folks want to complain about tv, complain about the women's channels first, and let us men have our own channel, for Pete's sake!

I have read that the actor Spike Lee was suing because the network "took his name." I think it's a ridiculous lawsuit.

    Good points, Johnv.

But I think that what people are more worried about are such shows as the upcoming Stan Lee cartoon about a "porn superhero," voiced by Pamela Anderson, and possibly some shows that are knockoffs of "The Man Show."

You know, the funny thing about The Man Show: many feminists and the like have been protesting against that show because they say it is "anti-woman." But in reality, the show is anti-male! When you have a show that makes men look like drooling idiots, as this show does, then it is men who should be upset about it, not women.

But then again, we are Baptists, so we do not watch The Man Show in the first place, right? ;)

Oh yes, I forgot about "Striperella". While I won't be watching it, I think it will be airing at a later time slot. But I doubt it will be worse than "Married With Children" that aired first at 8, then at 9pm.

From what I've read, the most provicative thing about "Striperella" is the title. There won't be any nudity or graphic sexuality. It will be a sit-com type format (like King of the Hill or Simpsons), but no doubt will contain a bit of innuendo. In other words, a cartoon for grown ups. I'm going to wager it will probably last two seasons and get replaced.

Oh, and I've never watched the Man Show. I only read about it on the back of a matchbook cover ;) But you're right. It makes fun of men. It mocks those male stereotypes. If you want to hear a mockery of a male stereotype, just listen to me one day when I lose my keys or wallet, which is a weekly occirrence.

How could I forget? I watch Lifetime occaisionally. Actually, we have two lifetime channels: Lifetime, and Lifetime Movie Network (aka, lots of flicks to cry at).

I have read that the actor Spike Lee was suing because the network "took his name."
He'll have to sue my neighbor's bulldog. He had the name first!!! Not to mention the Santa Fe railroad. Better yet, I think CCM artist Russ Lee should sue Spike Lee for stealing his last name.

I actually get into a lot of the flicks on Lifetime and LMN. Sometimes they are so BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD you have to laugh, but sometimes they are pretty good. Sounds like Spike TV will turn into something like The Wrestling Channel. I very much enjoy watching Lifetime more than TBN! Ugh! That's supposed to be a "Christian" network? Uh, doesn't look like one to me....

    A funny and related story:

My son works for a cable company and is always getting promotional caps and shirts for all these new programs and channels. He had a new Spike TV cap the other day.

Anyway he gave me this nice Polo Type Golf Shirt embossed with Ultimate Fighting Championship lettering on the front - not gaudy but small lettering on the left front of the shirt.

I was going to the Dr.'s Office the other day and decided to wear the shirt since nobody would see me and you're always having to change clothes at the Dr.'s Office anyway.

The doctor comes in (new doctor to me) looks at the shirt and looks back at my chart where it says occupation - Minister and says "Your Shirt doesn't match your occupation."

I replied, "Dr. You just don't know how close it sometimes comes!"

We both had a good laugh.

That's a funny story Hardsheller. It proves once again that there is always someone watching us to see if we are really Christians.

This quote comes from the 'Spike TV Link' in the first post...no wonder it's going to be bad! "Striperella" is advertised as an X-rated cartoon. Just what we need! [IMG]

I see a red flag with the shows you've mentioned ("Married With Children," "King of the Hill," "Simpsons") and glad to hear you're not planning to watch "Striperella". ;) Did you see that SpikeTV is advertising Ren & Stimpy as an ADULT PARTY CARTOON? Yikes!

... and if we're lucky, it'll be a shorter run than that! Cheers to your wager. [IMG]

    God bless ... PJ
