    Diane, Jim, Rod, the storm that has almost made it here (2 miles away at the most), Looks very Black and dangerous.

    I am not found of these kind of storms. We are on the New Madrid Fault line (earthquake line) and we get hit with tornado after tornado. Sometimes the high winds are harder than the tornado. I am a little afraid of the storms. (go ahead and laugh)

    Speaking of earthquakes....I have earthquake insurance on my house, but cannot get flood insurance. go figure. Mississippi River is about 30 miles from me. All the rivers back ditches overflow around our town. Just thought that was wierd.

    We had a tornado go by our house one year. It uprooted a number of old, huge Maple trees and all we could do was stand at the front window and watch it go by. It was that close,,,about 200 feet away. Thakfully, we don't get tornados very often,,maybe one in ten years.

    Yes, they are frightening. The sound of the wind always is.

    I don't care too much for tornados either. Living in this part of the country you have to expect several to pass close by every year. I guess that is why it is referred to as "Tornado Alley". Hopefully we won't see very many this year. I don't think I have ever experienced an earthquake and I hope I never do.

    It went from 66F today to 46F. Guess we weren't out of the brrrr. yet.

    I think whatever Tornado you get Rod, comes our way. I think we are on the same path line for tornadoes.

    I saw the weather today, and we are going to be clear of the severe weather. But more Northeast of me will be very serve. Up more where Bill and Gina are. More Northern IL (Rockford), look out Sue (Lincoln) it could be in your path too, and then over by Ohio.

    The wind is really blowing here on the west coast. It took my littlests baloon away. She had been given a baloon when we were at Wal-Mart, and when we went to the bank and we opened the back door to the car...off it went. She cried so sadly it broke my heart. I don't know how fast the winds are blowing, but some of the fences are being blown down around town...so that's pretty hard.

    Did anyone happen to catch the news,,,,36 Canadians are flying with the Brits in Iraq.......pssssst don't tell Mr. Bush...he thinks we are traitors in Canada.
    We got around our official stance by sending them as exchange servicemen.

    Nice trees, Sherrie. Someday, I tell myself, I'll get to Washington for the cherry blossoms.

    Back here, my crabapple is in full bloom with nice magenta flowers and Bradford and Imperial pears (hardier than the Bradfords) are resplendent.

    And the redbuds (state tree) are coming along nicely. The Comanche tribal complex is loaded with them, and they put on quite a show at the ceremony I attended today that was in support of the men and women serving in the military. They have the right idea: don't talk much, but let the dancing and songs do the work. (The eagle dance had to be canceled because the eagle wing didn't show up, but the war dance and shield dance were impressive, and the princesses signing "The Lord's Prayer" and "God Bless the U.S.A." turned out nicely.)

    Unfortunately, it was an outdoor ceremony, and it was BRRR with the north wind howling. But that's OK; I got some nice pictures.

    Jon, the muse was redirected momentarily toward the dolphins in current events, but I am thinking of posting the next installment for my 3000th post.

    We are still considering about how to celebrate Tartan Day April 6.

    I was taken aback by the name of the coalition's ground commander in Iraq — some guy by the name of William Wallace.

    I never knew 6th April was known as "tartan day". How come it is called that? I wander if it has something to do with money? Over here it is the first day of the tax year

    This ain't suppose to be happin'!!! It just ain't right! Ya'll don't understand that the cold is gonna kill the tomater plants I have set out--65plants in all and more to come!!

    I spoke with one of my church members just last night--He manages a pine tree nursery here nearby--they pack up to a million trees a day and ship them out to all areas of the "Good ole USA!!" Anyway, I was over at his place--he was helpin' me cut tomato sticks!! Of all things!! I kinda figure he was "up-ity" on the weather so I ask him!

    Me--"Say! They're sayin' its gonna freeze and frost here Monday night!! You reckon????!!!"

    Him--(With North Carolina drawl!!) "Shucks Naaaaawwwwwwww!! Those weather people up in Jackson got it all wrong!! It just don't do that sorta thing this time of the year!!!"

    But somehow or other---I'm still nervous!! My little tummy is "churnin'"--got the "butterflies"--there's too many plants already set out--I just can't cover um all up---heck!!!---I'll just have to take my chances!!!! None of you guys dare to do what Blackbird does, now!!

    Tartan Day

    April 6th is a national holiday in Canada and the United States to honor the Scots who have helped to make both countries great. If you are Scottish or have Scottish ancestors it is your day to show the world. Events will be happening all over the United States and Canada. Suite 101's is no exception. We are glad to have you join our first Tartan Day celebration.


    On December 19th 1991, in response to action initiated by the Clans & Scottish Societies of Canada, the Ontario Legislature passed a resolution proclaiming April 6th as Tartan Day, following the example of other Canadian provinces.

    America followed suit on March 20th 1998, when Senate Resolution 155 (S.Res. 155), proposed by US Senate Republican majority leader Trent Lott, was passed unanimously.

    We have new members to the brrrr....Sprrrr...ing thread, so this picture is really for them. They may not know what a Tartan is. I could not find a clergy Tartan, so went with a Clan Tartan.

    Just one note: April 6th is not a National Holiday in Canada. It doesn't even have an honourable mention on our calendar as does March 1st. St. David's Day (the Welsh National Holiday).
