Guess I hadn't thought of the aspect of "state taxes" since I live in Wyoming and DON'T PAY ANY!

    We have:
    No state income tax
    No business tax
    No corporate tax
    Lowest gas tax in US
    Lowest property tax in US
    4% sales tax

Who pays for everything in Wyoming?

Mostly residents of Wisconsin, Illinois, Indianna, etc. Every time you pay your electric bill, about $1 goes to Wyoming. No joke.

    Thank you.

The financial aspect of my post was specific to Michigan, I am not aware of the status of other major cities. I do think that major cities have totally different priorities than the outlying areas and the problem here in Michigan is that the political power of the cities is disproportional to their financial representation in the budget.
