The KJB has "steel" instead of bronze or brass in the following verses:

    2 Sam. 22:35
    Job 20:24
    Psalm 18:34
    Jer 15:12

Are there any sound explanations why steel was used when it was not made in the OT and the Hebrew word for steel is bronze?

Just as I thought, no one able to provide an answer.
Time to add it to the list of stupid KJB mistakes.

    P-nut,

bmerr here. No reason that I know of, except for the fact that the KJ translators were human like the rest of us. I don't think that's reason enough to disparage one of the few reliable translations of the Scriptures, though.

    In Christ,
