    Steve Martin banjo CD forthcoming
    Posted By John On 1st September 2008 @ 10:28

We made note late last year of the fact that comedian, actor and banjo player Steve Martin was preparing to record an album of serious banjo music.

The recording has been completed, produced by fellow banjo man John McCuen, with assistance from Tony Trischka and Pete Wernick. Helping out in the studio were Russ Barenberg on guitar, Matt Flinner on mandolin and Brittany Haas on fiddle, among others. New Martin compositions are the focus, performed in both 3 finger and clawhammer styles.

We’ve not been able to find out yet whether a label is involved, or when the CD might be released. Steve is vacationing now in Greece, but we are hopeful of obtaining an interview upon his return.

You mean Steve Martin, funny guy, who also records some seriously nasty stuff. Which way back when I've heard his filth? That Steve Martin.
These days wouldn't touch anything Steve Martin, not after knowing the degree is filth he puts out.

Whatever nasty stuff you are referring to, it has nothing to do with bluegrass music. This thread is about a forthcoming bluegrass music CD. Please stay on topic. Thank you.

This thread is about Steve Martin and his newest cd. I commented on the topic, Steve Martin. A very sexually publically nasty person. As a christian I couldn't endorse him or anything he does.

Me, neither. He makes money off of those CDs when Christians or anyone else buys them.

Musicians need to eat, and if you listen to the music, you may like it. Steve Martin may be secure, but every other name on this record is I guy I personally know, and I know they have to constantly work for a living. I'm really glad Steve Martin lent his name to this project, and I hope for big things for it.

Well, if I buy his CD, then he will make money off of my purchase. And there is nothing you or donnA can do about it.

This is frustrating. We can't even discuss something as innocuous as bluegrass music without people wanting to bring other junk into it. :(

    His music is, though.

As far as the nasty stuff you mention, I know nothing about it, but I'll accept your word on it. About the first time I remember watching him was in one of my favorite movies - "The Three Amigos".

Bill Monroe was a serial womanizer, and unrepentant most of his life, an illegitimate kid, and many scorned women. Ricky Skaggs is also divorced from his first wife. Alison Krauss just released a record with Robert Plant, a former member of Led Zeppelin, so you'd better throw those records away, because they have not lived lives that would glorify our Lord.

Yeah, it does. Somehow, your admonishment doesn't. The truth is, I'll buy the record, and I don't expect to hear word one about it at the great white throne.
