A hundred years ago, these ranters faced similar sanctions.
They found that threatening a hunger strike was an effective way to get released quickly.

Who ignored MUCH LOUDER men with bullhorns...that just had a different message.

Bout as gentle as a legitimate preacher can be. I agree, if he stopped preaching the gospel, and just did "nice things" for people, thus eliminating the offense of the cross, he would have been fine.

    And disobedient.

Not so. She said she wanted him at a "talking" level....which means no preaching. She did this, while ignoring the men with bullhorns all around him.

She, too, wanted to silence him.

Well, then you haven't actually paid attention to the Bible. Look through it; it is always the public proclamation of God's Word, that brings the people back to repentance. It is the pattern of evangelism throughout the New Testament. It is the thing Paul says, in Romans, that a man needs to "hear" in order to believe and be saved.

And no, there was no personal smear, or "inference." I am saying directly that the unbiblical attitude of people who refuse to stand up for their brothers and sisters on the front line and the failure of the church to stand together against oppression and silencing of the gospel, is what is causing this country to sink further and further into a "liberal cesspool."

Nope. The New Testament pattern was to enter the synagogue and preach.

I dont know all the details, but I will say the enemy is working hard to discredit the open air preachers of our land. He will use unbelievers and even Christians to accomplish his aims.

Its not like you see any value in those whom procliam the word of God from the streets.

Dont worry brother. The devil will use unbelievers, and even Christians to discredit the street preacher.

Simply not true. Paul preached on the street, and ABANDONED the synagogues.

I am reminded of something I read some time back: " if we were charged with being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict?"

Not many Christians lived to be retired. See Foxe's: Book of Martyrs. Also see: History of Evangelical Churches of the Valleys of Piedmont, by S. Morland.

Witness=martyr. We do not see much persecution because we do not preach the gospel to every creature.

We have no idea how much the world hates a real Christian. We have no idea what persecution might be.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

    Acts 17:16-17

Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him when he saw that the city was given over to idols. Therefore he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and with the Gentile worshipers, and in the marketplace daily with those who happened to be there.

Point was that he did both. He did not forsake the synagogue.

Really! And why is this in this forum anyway? Didn't the OP based the post on a news story? Why isn't it in that forum?

He did it based on the day to day scenarios God placed before him. He never abandoned the synagogue as HD stated, nor do we see him standing on a street corner with a sandwich sign and bullhorn.

Thats something to weigh your value as a Christian .... Good commentary.

More frightening, we have no idea how many self professing Christians actually loathe the Christian life, do we.....????

Et tu, Brute? (Julius Caesar, 3.1.77)

    AMEN :applause:
