    Joe,

    It isn't that I say it. Commentators, my RSV Study Bible has verses 20-24 with the header as "The destruction of Jerusalem."

    For verses 25-28 it has as a header; "The Second Advent of Christ."

    Also, my KJV Chain Reference Bible does that. Look at the various commentators. They all, as far as I know say this.

    Verse 20 does conclude the paragraph about the Gentiles and then moves on to another subject as he so often does in scripture.

    That verse was interesting.

    IMHO all one's doctrines need to fit
    together to make a consistent whole
    world view. This makes sense cause God
    makes sense and cannot do otherwise (when
    we understand His will).

    IMHO a minor event like this tsanami
    just isn't of "Biblical porportions".

    Read about the earthquakes of Revelation:

    1. Revelation 6:14 (HCSB):

    the sky separated like a scroll being rolled up;
    and every mountain and island was moved from its place.

    2. Revelation 16:20 (HCSB):

    Every island fled, and the mountains disappeared.

    The first rattles the mountains and islands;
    the second destroys the mountains and islands
    shaking them to pieces: the islands covered with sea,
    the mountains flattened.

    Maybe a scale 8.0 earthquake caused the death recently
    of 150,000. The Rev 6:14 will be like 1 million such
    eathquakes all at once (scale 14.0).
    The Rev 16:20 will be 1,000
    times more than the Rev 6:14 (scale 17.0).

    Matthew 24:22 (HCSB):

    Unless those days were cut short, no one would survive.
    But because of the elect those days will be cut short.

    This is true Ed. I even posted a link on another thread showing how this natural disaster as bad as it was, was really small potatos compared to other events throughout history:

    Actually, no.

    Are there more homosexuals now than
    there were 40 years ago? No, 40 years
    ago they were in the closet; now they
    are out of the closet.

    I find it a hard teaching that God is
    letting the homosexuals dictate the
    time of His return :confused:
    I think i'd rather think it is the people who
    suffer and pray for His return.

    Ed,

    You said;
    1) If you base your assumptions on the highly symbolical language of Revelation instead of the more clearly defined sections of the gospels and the epistles then you can arrive at any creative theory you want to arrive at. That's always been the playground of writers like Lindsay and LaHaye who wish to create tantalizing material for their books.

    2) But, Christ in very clear language that an 8 year old can understand, he says that "on the day when Lot went out from Sodom, fire and sulphur rained from heaven and destroyed them all - SO WILL IT BE on the day when the Son of man is revealed."

    God used the natural occurences like lightening, bitumen, and possibly an earthquake to destroy Sodom and Gomorah.

    Sodom and Gomorah, more than likely, had LESS people destroyed than the Sunami did.

    The "parting of the Red Sea" was a use of the natural elements to destroy the wicked too. Now, that was a Sunami!

    ****************************************************************************************************
    Then you went on to say;
    Ed, Why do you use this verse? It's the Great Tribulation that you, as a pre-tribber says you won't be here for! (That is unless you have finally accepted the words of Christ in Luke 17 where he says that there will be "two in one bed," one of which will be taken and the other one left. They can't be in the same bed together if there is a thousand years of tribulation. at the time they get "taken" and "left." Christ is saying 3 times that all those things are to happen on the same day. Is there hope here for you Ed?)

    ****************************************************************************************************
    Now, about the homosexual quote of yours;

    Ed, I disagree with you on this completely.

    1) There are many more homosexuals than there were 40 years ago even though they were "in the closet." But it isn't so much the numbers but the acceptance of the lifestyle within society as a whole, and even worse, it is being legitimized within many of the "Christian" churches today. You can't tell me that that is the same as it was 40 years ago. Are you not aware of the epidemic of aids in Africa alone? It is the immorality of this type of sin and the despising the authority of God that God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.

    God destroyed those who did not believe "...just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise acted immorally and indulged in unnatural lust, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire." (Jude 7)

    Again, "...if He rescued righteous Lot, greatly distressed by the licentiousness of the wicked...then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trial, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgement, and especially those who indulge in the lust of defiling passion AND despise authority." (2 Peter 2:4-10)

    In the days of Lot, homosexuality was rampant. Before Lot and the two visiting angels of destruction went to bed that night, "...the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both young and old, all the people to the last man, surrounded the house; and they called to Lot, 'Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us, that we may know them." (Gen 19:1-11)

    Keep watching trailblazer...

    Mark 13
    33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not
    when the time is.
    34 For the Son of man is as a man taking a far
    journey, who left his house, and gave authority
    to his servants, and to every man his work, and
    commanded the porter to watch.
    35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the
    master of the house cometh, at even, or at
    midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the
    morning:
    36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.
    37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

    James 5
    7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the
    coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman
    waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and
    hath long patience for it, until he receive the
    early and latter rain.
    8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts:
    for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

    Trailblazer: "Is there hope here for you Ed?)"

    No, i am a hopelessly incurable Jesus Phreaque!!

    Trailblazer: "Ed, Why do you use this verse? It's the
    Great Tribulation that you, as a pre-tribber says you won't be here for!"

    Amen, I won't be here for the Great Tribulation.
    But i'll be in heaven pleading that my lost friends don't
    have to suffer too greatly, that my now saved Jewish
    Israeli elect saints will be spared, pleading with
    Jesus that he not kill everybody, all life on
    earth. I'll be of
    the elect who "because of the elect those days
    will be cut short".

    Trailblazer: "Are you not aware of the epidemic of aids in Africa alone?"

    Yes. Are you aware that the aids epidemic in Africa
    is 98% among heterosexuals? Are you aware that the portion
    of aids victums is perportional to the percentage of Christians
    in each sub-sarahian country? Are you aware that the men seek
    sex with un-aids victums and that they are having sex with
    children (12 or less)? Are you aware that God commaned the
    Children of Israel to kill all of certain tribes of Cannianites
    because they had sex with children? (And probably had AIDS
    as well, but that is speculation only.)?

    Less than 2% of American society contilnues to be
    practicing homosexuals. 40% of Americans are Pagan.
    Where does the problem really lie?
    40% of American are slipped "Christians";
    2% are homosexual -- Where is the problem in America?
