I don't think we should change the church schedule to accommodate the Super Bowl Game.

Now if the Oklahoma Sooners are playing, I might have a different opinion. [IMG]

I think the youth in our church has a party and watches the game, but we have church as usual and most of the time get home in time to watch the game. But I would go to church even if I missed the game.

The only time that I know that we have dismissed church on Sunday evening was because of a snow and ice storm and it was dangerous for people to get out.

I personally have heard a lot of unbelievers make very bad comments about churches who commercialize secural things as what they call outreach programs.

I really wonder how many sinners come to the Lord by this means? Has anyone taken a poll to see if this is really an outreach program or just an excuse to give in to people putting secular things above God's things.

I love football and rarely miss a S.B., but an amazing thing has happened since I got here to Hawaii and am actively involved with church. I read more of the Bible and other Christian books. I rarely watch any TV except for sports, news, and the home and garden channel. I have drastically cut down on my sports because being in Hawaii the games start early in the morning when we have to leave for church.

But, I am a huge Broncos fan and if they would have made it to the SB, I would have really been tempted to stay home and watch the game. But I hope I would be convicted to just tape it. I have another issue that I just realized was a problem and that was purchasing three Pro Bowl tickets for myself, my son, and my father who will be visiting us at that time. The Pro Bowl is Sunday afternoon local time. $50 tickets and I may be forced to miss the evening service. What do I do? Its only one Sunday night.

Just realized that kickoff will be around 1315 local time or 1:15 for you civilians. This is the one game that takes way too long to finish due to the long halftime and such. With my luck, this will be another tied game late in the game, right when it will be time to leave for the evening service around 1730.

We just set the VCR and go to church as usual. We don't listen to the radio on the way home so we don't hear what happened, then play the game back as if it were just being played. Skip the least interesting commercials and cut the time down.

I have heard of some area churches having the game on big-screen TV, hold church service at halftime, then back to the game.

I guess I am missing the point why this is a bad thing.

Every 5th Sunday we have a fellowship dinner after the evening service. We will have one this Sunday. Whats wrong with people watching the football game, laughing and playing, eating and just enjoying each others company. Whether its in the afternoon or evening.

I don't get the hulla baloo.

As a Primitive Baptist I will go to church and worship the Lord and if there is any time left I will watch the Superbowl!... Plenty of time to go to church and watch the Superbowl for me!... btw as you can see I live in Superbowl City... According to the TV Guide... The Superbowl will start at 1500 or 3:00 oclock PST... Probably the actual kickoff will be around 1520 to 1530!... It will probably finish around 7:30 to 8:00 oclock!
Hope you all enjoy the sights of the city named fun in the sun... After you stop drooling come and pay us a visit... We love tourists!... Brother(A native San Diegan)Glen [IMG]

My church has Awana on Sunday nights so the kids are being asked to dress in their favorite football team jersey. There will be a prize for the best outfit.

We are also having a Souper Sunday where the kids of the church will be collecting money to support the local food bank.

    I love my church!

Our church will do the same as every Sunday PM. Why is it that churches think they have to use the things of the world to evangelize lost people? The Bible says it is through preaching! All through history we see revivals from the preaching of God's Word. It would seem to me that it is Christians who don't want to miss out on the game.
