The problem for you is that the leaks if they indeed occurred weren't illegal. Roberts isn't going after Libby for the leaks. He's going after him for perjury and obstruction.

But wait... to liberals those aren't crimes. They are the prerogative of someone who is "doing their job" in the White House.

Liberal hypocrisy knows virtually no bounds. And don't even try the "she was endangered" by the leaks. By all accounts, she had been off the field for 5 years and her identity as a CIA agent was hardly a secret thanks in part to her blabber mouth husband.

If you are going to go after the WH for blowing her confidentiality... you have to go after her and her husband too.

It is premature to draw any conclusions about this matter. We don't know all the facts, and anybody here who claims otherwise is being deceptive. Wait for the legal system to work.

You've been fishing for 5 or six years now AP, and all you've gotten near the boat is Scooter. And he and everyone else but her hubby, are totally innocent of outing her. You're amusing.

Duh! all you bushbots that hurt our nation and btw I am an independent and vote for competence and not incompetence...lets review bushbots

Scotter to the grand jury ..now read closely ..so you can spin
and deceive better as you enable and protect incompetence.

WASHINGTON Feb 9, 2006 (AP)— A former top aide to Vice President Dick Cheney told a federal grand jury that his superiors authorized him to give secret information to reporters as part of the Bush administration's defense of intelligence used to justify invading Iraq, according to court papers.

Special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald said in documents filed last month that he plans to introduce evidence that I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Cheney's former chief of staff, disclosed to reporters the contents of a classified National Intelligence Estimate in the summer of 2003.

The NIE is a report prepared by the head of the nation's intelligence operations for high-level government officials, up to and including the president. Portions of NIEs are sometimes declassified and made public. It is unclear whether that happened in this instance.

In a Jan. 23 letter to Libby's lawyers, Fitzgerald said Libby also testified before the grand jury that he caused at least one other government official to discuss an intelligence estimate with reporters in July 2003.

"We also note that it is our understanding that Mr. Libby testified that he was authorized to disclose information about the NIE to the press by his superiors," Fitzgerald wrote.

Hill I think Scotter just made room in his boat.

That article still doesn't claim that the disclosure was illegal. Fitzgerald isn't pursuing that angle and according to the law the information is not protected since she hadn't been undercover outside of the country for 5+ years.

Spin all you want. This is nothing but liberals grasping at straws.

If Libby or anyone else committed a crime to include perjury, they should be punished. That's another difference between conservatives and liberals. We believe the standards should be applied even when it hurts. We believe in a nation ruled by law... not men.

The problem is that liberals don't so we often are at a distinct disadvantage... and some conservatives fail to remember where the line is... as DeLay possibly did.

The CIA Leak: Plame Was Still Covert
    Most Popular

    Newsweek
Feb. 13, 2006 issue - Newly released court papers could put holes in the defense of Dick Cheney's former chief of staff, I. Lewis (Scooter) Libby, in the Valerie Plame leak case. Lawyers for Libby, and White House allies, have repeatedly questioned whether Plame, the wife of White House critic Joe Wilson, really had covert status when she was outed to the media in July 2003. But special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald found that Plame had indeed done "covert work overseas" on counter proliferation matters in the past five years, and the CIA "was making specific efforts to conceal" her identity, according to newly released portions of a judge's opinion.

(Lets make sure you got that Scott:)

Okay you say nothing in 5+ years and the CIA says
not so ..that she has been covert and in process
    to keep her covert.

So Scott?????????????????? did ya make a mistake
boy. ;) running loose with the facts...taking the talking poinst to heart without fact checking. ;)

oh I see it was just you opinion ...fine then.

How could she have been covert if her identity was already known locally? And, her husband was leaking classified data to reporters? Why is HE not being prosecuted?

And along those lines: If a Republican sees an advantage along the line between right and wrong but realizes the Dems all do it all the time, he naturally assumes he will do so also knowing he won't blow the whistle on the Dems. But he further assumes the Dems won't finger him either, because after all a case can be made for it being completely legal. Big mistake, because the Dems DO NOT play fairly, and will burn you in a heartbeat, while claiming they did it correctly themselves. Ala DeLay.... It's in their new genetic coding.

    Welllllll...... Let's see smart aleck.

Fitzgerald (not the non-partisan Dems claimed him to be btw) and a judge have "legal" opinions and findings that a) are non-specific, b) have not led to an indictment of Libby for violating any laws concerning her supposed covert status, and c) didn't prevent her husband from blabbering on a frequent basis.

Besides the fact that Wilson as someone who had to take an oath to do the mission he took MUST be investigated also if Libby or anyone else is guilty... Plame herself and Wilson should be brought up on charges for using/disclosing privileged intelligence info for purely partisan political reasons.

If you want to throw guilt around on this one then you have to start with those who initially caused the problem... Plame and Wilson.

In fact, it is fairly well documented that Wilson's infamous NYT editorial was false... so you can add falsification of intelligence information to undermine the foreign policy of the USA... that has another name- treason.
