ON THE WEB: F-A-A CERTIFIES PLAN TO BRING INTERNET, E-MAIL TO JETS
(Cyberspace-AP) -- Surfing the Net while flying the friendly
skies may soon be a reality. The F-A-A has o-k'd a plan that would
bring Internet connections to airliners. The government agency's
decision certifies Connexion -- a division of Boeing -- to bring
Internet services into jet cabins. The certification comes after
tests showed the system both worked, and didn't interfere with the
aircraft's systems or how the planes handled. Boeing plans to start
trial service later this year with the German airline Lufthansa.
