Thanks for the Civics lesson. The House controls the purse strings. No Democrat would really be happy with the GOP controlling the money.

No, thank you for the civics lesson.

Again, she may be concerned about even more losses.

"The comment -- which came during a discussion of the economy -- perked more than a few ears. It's unclear whether Perdue, a Democrat, is serious -- but her tone was level and she asked others to support her on the idea." LINK

Because she knows that many Democrats are not buying into Obama's ideas - like his "jobs bill" because they are facing the voters again in 2012.

She is thinking that if they have that worry gone then they can go all out pushing the Obama agenda against the will of the voters.

I know folks have a low regard for Democrats as a rule, but would she be so stupid that she thinks a GOP house described as a 'do-nothing Congress' by another Democrat would pass the Jobs Bill?

Obama calling the GOP house "a do nothing Congress" is meant to turn the politically uneducated against them. Of course anyone who is following along knows that it is the Democrats that are not moving Obama's "jobs bill". That is because the Democrats know that it is against the will of the majority of taxpayers who are sick of all the spending and borrowing with no results and they fear the voter backlash.

IMO it isn't just the "jobs bill" that she wants - it's the whole Obama agenda and probably just wants a Democrat win without regard to the issue or the effect on the U.S. simply because she is a Democrat.

Does she really think the Republicans would get behind the 'Obama agenda' if they didn't have to worry about re-election.

It just doesn't seem to make any sense to me as a real proposal. If she said it two years ago, maybe. Plus the fact that it is a ludicrous proposal which cannot be taken seriously let us know that she was 'joking.'

    It's a two prong strategy.

Let the Democrats off the hook so that they can go ahead with Obama's stuff by protecting them against facing reelection.

Pressure the Republicans by misinforming the public about who is the "do nothing congress".

She's a politician and a Democrat to boot. Why should it make any sense?

If you listen to the audio of her saying it, it is obvious that she is serious and not making a joke.
