T B Joshua- opinions?

    Anyone heard of this guy? When I was in a local charismatic church, there were a couple of ladies who went out to his Synagogue Church in Nigeria and came back giving him raves. I read some of the literature produced by the church which caused me some concern. The guy seemed very much a one-man-band, and the whole thing was far more about him than God.

    Last night Channel 4 showed a documentary about his church which further added to my concerns.I paraphrase (only slightly) a song which was taught to the kids in the sunday school of his church "Synagogue Church" in Nigeria.

    "The Synagogue church is great, the synagogue church is great, the holy spirit moves with mighty power, because of T.B. Joshua - the man of God. Everything about him is good, everything about him is good."

    Most scarey was his zombies..sorry...followers...I thought I was watching Dawn of the Dead for a minute.

    They wandered around with fixed grins, staring into middle distance. The question "how long have you been here?" to one of them drew the reply..."God is timeless, I have therefore learned to reject all concepts of time" or some such bilge.

    Does anyone here know anything more about this guy and his church?

    Sounds like self worship in that church. Focus on the teacher rather than Jesus.

    My husband and I watched the programme and plan on watching the second programme next week. This guy is a decidedly dodgy character, everything seems to revovle around him. There again, we weren't to impressed with the theologian who was presenting the documentary either...
