Mine are not done yet! I usually have mine done by now. We had some issues with Jeanne having to repay Long Term Disability out of her back pay for Social Security. We have already paid taxes on the LTD, and the SSD is partially taxable so I am waiting on two letters of credit for taxable income from the LTD company. As soon as I have them I can finish my taxes and get my refund.

I used Turbo Tax and filed online. My refund is back and in my savings account. I've used this program for three years now and I love it!

I too have used TurboTax for several years, and find that at last they have included the right questions to account for ministers' self-employed status and the way that affects the Social Security tax. In previous years I have had to override the calculated Social Security tax, or else it would have been far too high. But they have it right now. I like the way the program asks questions to help the taxpayer make sure s/he is not overlooking something. I suppose other programs do much the same thing.

Still not e-filing because of the fee attached to that. Postage is cheaper!

It costs the same to e-file as it does to print out your completed forms doesn't it?

My hubby takes them to the CPA's and gets them done. All I do is look for the refund check in the mail. [IMG] We got our state refund last week and are waiting on the federal refund. Woohooo!

With Turbo, there seems to always be a charge to efile.

There might be other free (at least federal) services that can be found through the www.irs.gov website.

Some of the efile providers will charge you if you go directly to their web site, but if you connect through www.irs.gov then you can efile for free.

Let's all remember to be accurate...I hear a lot of "I got $xxx back." I know what they mean, but that money is YOUR money that was overpaid. Bobby, I'm afraid we ALL pay.

If everyone had to file quarterly taxes as I do, we'd have a better chance for tax reform. Folks would realize how much money our gov't wastes.

Not trying to hijack, but on the subject of taxes... PLEASE check out the "fair tax."

This is the best shot we'll ever have at true tax reform. It's a brilliant plan that I bet your congressman hates. I'm pushing it.
