Some may not have made the connection, but there are many similarities between teenagers and cats.

    1. Neither teenagers nor cats turn their heads when you call them by name.

    2. No matter what you do for them, it is not enough. Indeed, all humane efforts are barely adequate to compensate for the privilege of waiting on them hand and foot.

    3. You rarely see a cat walking outside of the house with an adult human being, and it can be safely said that no teenager in his or her right mind wants to be seen in public with his or her parents.

4 . Even if you tell jokes as well as Jay Leno, neither your cat nor your teen will ever crack a smile.

    5. No cat nor teenager shares your taste in music.

    6. Cats and teenagers can lie on the living room sofa for hours on end without moving, barely breathing.

    7. Cats have nine lives. Teenagers carry on as if they did.

    8. Cats and teenagers yawn in exactly the same manner, communicating that ultimate human ecstasy--a sense of complete and utter boredom.

    9. Cats and teenagers do not improve anyone's furniture.

    10. Cats that are free to roam outside sometimes have been known to return in the middle of the night to deposit a dead animal in your bedroom. Teenagers are not necessarily above that sort of behavior.

Thus, if you must raise teenagers, the best sources of advice are not other parents, but veterinarians. It is also a good idea to keep a guidebook on cats on hand at all times.

And remember, above all else, put out the food and do not make any sudden moves in their direction. When they make up their minds, they will finally come to you for some affection and comfort and it will be a triumphant moment for all concerned.

    I beg to Respectfully Differ:
    1. Neither teenagers nor cats turn their heads when you call them by name.
If someone is talking to me I will give them the respect they deserve and look at them when they are talking
    2. No matter what you do for them, it is not enough. Indeed, all humane efforts are barely adequate to compensate for the privilege of waiting on them hand and foot.
I am very grateful for everything my parents and others do for me. I know that I do not always deserver what they do for me but I am grateful that they do it and I thank them for doing it.

    3. You rarely see a cat walking outside of the house with an adult human being, and it can be safely said that no teenager in his or her right mind wants to be seen in public with his or her parents.
I love going places with my parents and I am defiantly in my "right mind" I Love my parents and enjoy going places and doing things with them

    4. Even if you tell jokes as well as Jay Leno, neither your cat nor your teen will ever crack a smile.
I find my dad to be a very funny person, at times he takes it a bit far I find my self laughing at him more often than not.
    5. No cat nor teenager shares your taste in music.
My parents and I do sometimes have disagreements about music but there are those times when I will take my parents old CDs because I love the music they listen too. Their music has such class and style that the music of today doesn’t have.

    6. Cats and teenagers can lie on the living room sofa for hours on end without moving, barely breathing.
Most of the teenagers I know with my self included would like a chance to relax like this once and a while. During the summer I work a 40 hour work week, on top of that I have youth group, tennis lessons, and house hold chores. I am lucky if I get to watch one half hour TV show a week.

    7. Cats have nine lives. Teenagers carry on as if they did.
This one is probably the closest to truth. Teenagers think that no bad can come to them. I learned that this isn’t true when I was in a car accident a while back, even though it was the other persons fault I still learned that I was in no way invincible and I needed to act accordingly

    8. Cats and teenagers yawn in exactly the same manner, communicating that ultimate human ecstasy--a sense of complete and utter boredom.
I wish I had time to be bored!

    9. Cats and teenagers do not improve anyone's furniture.
Don’t get time to sit on it, wish I did:)

    10. Cats that are free to roam outside sometimes have been known to return in the middle of the night to deposit a dead animal in your bedroom. Teenagers are not necessarily above that sort of behavior. Most teens I know have curfews, we must be home at a reasonable time. My curfew is 11:00.

Give teenagers a chance you will find them rewarding if you take away the stereotypes of them being anti-social and rude. Teenagers are just like anyone else they just want to talk to you and learn about you, but you can’t do that if someone already has formed a negative opinion about you.

I don't think making teenagers in general out to be lazy and prideful exactly helps the case for those of us who aren't like that.

Well I thought some of them were kinda funny, even though they all don't discribe me. Reminds me of a lot of people I know, so I can't help but laugh.
