We all spend a lot of time moaning and groaning declaring we 'deserve' so much when what we really deserve is HELL.

Has Baptist Board linked you to a new friend? Has someone here helped you through a hard time? Have you found answers to questions you felt you couldn't ask at church?

How has Baptist Board touched YOUR life in a wonderful way?

    Diane,

I smiled because you just quoted my wife's favorite saying - "What we really deserve is Hell."

Yes - the Baptist Board has linked me to several people who have helped me in particular areas of my ministry in real and tangible ways. One board member sent me a piece of software for our church worth over $200. Another has promised some Midi music on CD for our piano.

And that's not even beginning to count all the good advice and encouragement from people like yourself!

And then there's the argumentative types that provide me with an outlet for my emotions that may even keep me from fussing at my own church members.

Hey, while I don't check the BB everyday I'd be losing something good if I lost it completely.

    :D

When I had JUST joined Baptist Board, I got very sick with an abscessed tooth. The dentist insisted it had to be treated right away because of possible brain infection. Well, I had no money or insurance and had no idea what to do... I posted a prayer request in the private women's forum asking if I should hold off, take meds and wait for a lower price, non qualified dentist to do the work or try to sell something to come up with almost $700. for just the endodontist. That night, as we sat down and prayed over our supper, a precious board member called and said a group of board members had come up with the money and for me to see the endodontist the very next day. She gave me her Credit Card number! I attempted to share that praise in Sunday School and burst into tears (even now it brings tears to my eyes) and the next week, when I needed money for the crown on that tooth, I got a call from the dentist that someone at our church had been so touched by that testimony that they had put $400. toward the crown and the dentist would do it for his cost. I cannot tell you how many times our family has been touched, in Christian love, by persons on the board! And see how the generosity of those persons touched the lives of our dentist and people at my church. That story is retold often by others now.

I've gotten to meet, in person, Helen and Barry, Sheila (Followinghim) and Rob, Gayla and Carl, Syd (AskStandWalk) and Sue (Faithmom), Steven Sawyer and Jennie and of course, dear Gib!

I've 'brought' many of my online friends to the board and they've flourished. I've openly shared our problems with hubby's job situation and had wonderful and loving letters of support.

I've been given sisters! Too many to list but you know who you are! I talk on the phone with them when finances allow and we talk about our families, hobbies, upcoming events.... just real family stuff.

This is the only board I frequent. I have joined one other board recently for reading and study.

Baptist Board has been a blessing in my life. I praise the Lord for touching the heart of Bro. Webmaster and Bro. Barnabas those 5 years ago. Thank you to all who came before us!

Things really great about the BB
(now this is beyond that it's Bible beliving christians)
    1. Friends
    2. Old Friends
    3. Games
    4. Topics I can talk about
    5. Monerators who listen
    6. People who care
    7. Makes you think on more than one level
    8. Levels the playing field
    9. It dosen't matter if you know a little or a lot you STILL have a voice
    10. People are always willing to pray
    11. People help each other.

I would personally like to think the webmaster for starting a place that could be a blessing to so many. While we don't all agree on the details I think we do believe on the major point. GOD is GOD and nothing more.

Sometimes you have to stand up take a step back and look at the picture rather than look though a magnifying glass. I know that this place has brought me peace, harmony and esp love and affection.

    thank you everyone

Wonderful analogy! Up close, you can see blemishes, wrinkles, wear and tear but if you look with your HEART instead of trying to tear things apart piece by piece, you almost get a God's eye view of the purpose of this board.

    Amen, David's Angel!

Have come to know many a folks on the BB. Met Jim, Nick and Diane in Atlanta for supper and drove all over the place looking for a CVS afterwards. Diane has a slight southern draw, but has been watered down by the rich yankee accent of Jim.

Have met folks that new other friends of mine across the Southeast. I know the walk the walk, because I've asked my friends and they've said "Yes, they are a strong Christian."

Has been a great outlet for fellowship. Health probs keep me from being as active as I wish and the BB is just a click away.

Have made other friends who I wish I could meet in person and talk about NASCAR, John Deere, bow ties and Ireland. But, if I never do, we'll always have the Bored, the Baptist Bored.

Blackbird has enough knowledge to solve just about any---and he means ANY problem any BB'er can throw at 'im!! He'd DONE solved Diane Tav's little dentist problem if she'd had just listened to 'im----but NOOOOOOOOOO! Now, see, its done costed her a fortune!!

I can come in here---and shoot the breeze or be serious---Blackbird's no different on the board than in person!

Oh yeah, right: throw out a topic for discussion and then submit a post that NOBODY could possibly top!! [IMG]

Seriously, that was a fantastic story. Thanks for sharing that again, as I had not heard it.

For me, I have made several good friends on this board. I love the fellowship we have here, despite our differences. Someone once told me that if you put a
    Southern Baptist,
    an Independent Baptist,
    a Free Will Baptist,
    a Primitive Baptist,
    and a Regular Baptist
in a room to order a pizza, the result would be that everyone would fight over the toppings, never actually order the pizza, and yet still have a wonderful time of fellowship.

    I wonder if that's true........

Oh my! What has the BB done for me? Let me count the ways...

I came to the board in a bout of depression. I immediately received encouragement, love, compassion, support, and prayers from STRANGERS!

Through my discussions here, I have become much closer to the Lord. I have learned much and dispensed much advice.

Shortly after I joined, I wanted, and needed, to go visit my son in another state. I have agoraphobia and have a REAL problem traveling.

A certain lady poster from 'clear across the country' called me and offered to fly from her state to mine and drive me to see my son (in yet ANOTHER state) and then fly back home at her expense! She did not even know me. Is that the love of Christ or what? I found it HERE on the BB!

I have become fast friends with many people here. Some I talk to on the phone and others I get to know through the Coffee House or the Games Forum.

I have even started to like bowties! [IMG]

This is my extended family and my home away from home.

When I found BB - it was like finding a big blessing.

Though I've not met any BB members personally - that I didn't already know - I feel as if I have a big extended family from all around the world.

I've enjoyed writing devotionals for BB - and it helps me in my studies for my sermons.

I think we all owe Webmaster a great big thank you for his time, money (cost of running the board) and for his yielding to the Lord's leading in the creation of this board.
    Thanks Webmaster!

I enjoy the fellowship and stimulating conversation. No really exciting stories to tell, but it is a great place to talk.

The BB offered me a place to minister. Whether folks like what I say (or how I say it) it is an unreal joy to be ABLE to say it.

In June 2000 I had begun my downhill journey of health challenges that still continues today. After 30+ years of full time pastoring or college teaching, I was "on the shelf".

To be able to share from some of that experience and minister here on the BB makes my journey here more blessed than any of you can know.

I already like the "cleaness" of this board. I won't (or better not lol) get offended by coarse language or inuendos.

    Thanks!
