As aired on cspan today on the investigation conducted by Henry Waxman, Mrs. Tensing (who wrote the law concerning outing covert CIA agents) testified under oath that valarie Plame does not qualify as covert. Waxman responded by asserting that a general had informed him that mrs. Plame was covert and Mrs. Tensing asked him if the General had testified under oath to that.

So as we see it is now settled that Plame was not covert.

Of course. This whole fiasco is a sham, and I hope the voters remember this in a year & a half.

Valeria Plame & her "journalist" hubby are gonna be millionares over this lie, the DRIVE BY MEDIA (hear that, BiR ?) will suck it up like a Hoover Deluxe, but I pray that citizens see thru this DISPICABLE waste of taxpayer money.

I watched a little of that hearing. There was a lot of grandstanding going on, but thought Knodell didn't do a very good job, at least the part I saw. He looked totally bored.

And the Dems could not grasp that the WH would not do an investigation at the same time as justice. I am not sure why that was confusing. I understood it the first time it was said. Perhaps I am exceptional. But I saw at least Dems ask about it time after time. They are apparently not all that bright.

I thought Rep Watson from California was particularly egregious in her tactics. It was absolute silliness.

If she wasn't covert, then she couldn't be outed, then what was Scooter Libby really tried for?

    Exactly!

It is hard to understand the Libby was convicted of lieing about something that never happened. Libby wasnt convicted of outing her but about a suposed lie involving the investigation. The investigation should have stopped the minute it was determined she wasnt outed. The rest of the investigation is suspicious at best.

As much as I hate to say it, Scooter lied, and should have been censured, but a 20 year sentence is outrageous.

Right, but lying to cover up the outing that couldn't of happened because she wasn't outed. Odd, odd twist.

And yet, Sandy Berger . . . His punishment is that the LOC keeps a very close eye on him when he walks on the premises.

    You got it, Mcdirector.

In spite of a mountain of evidence to the contrary, there are still going to be people who, for whatever reason, can't stand the fact that the politicians they've backed themselves into a major corner to support, are corrupt. That includes Cheney, Bush, and their advisors. Libbey was just a scapegoat, and this is only the tip of the iceberg. The recent revelations about the way eight federal prosecutors were fired is going to open doors to mind-boggling corruption in the justice department. I have an idea that what's been covered up by all of that will lead to the resignation, possibly forced, of Alberto Gonzales. The Bush administration is going to have a hard time with that, in fact, they already are. It's quite sad, really. And I certainly hope the voters remember that in a year and a half.

Where there's smoke, there's fire. Isn't that what all these "conservatives" were screeching when they were clamoring for investigations during the Clinton administration?

Don't let this rot convince you otherwise. Libbey is guilty, and probably of a whole lot more than for what he was tried.

Perjury. Isn't that well-known? He was prosecuted for committing perjury about a crime that never happened.

There is some dispute about whether or not failing to remember the dates and content exact conversations is a prosecutable offense.

What was illegal in the firing of these prosecutors? Isn't is true that they serve at the pleasure of the president and he can hire or fire them at will, with or without cause?

Do you think Bush will run again and the voters can remember this for that reason?

There was nothing illegal about the firing of those prosecutors, but i do wish Gonzales would just GO AWAY.

    Before I forget...

    NEOCON!

Well, this morning, she testified that she was covert at the time of the Robert Novak leak. But then she was asked if she was covered by the Intelligent Identies Act, she said "no".

That "cover company" she used at the time had been known to be a front for the CIA for years. Even Joe Wilson know she worked for the CIA by the end of their first date - later, all their neighbors and friends knew it, too.

Then she claimed "once covert, always covert". Umm, no.......

Hmmm, seems like alot of fuss being made over nothing. Why would Libby lie? Why would he be prosecuted for nothing? Questions questions. Maybe there's more to the story than we're being told. Ah well, slice of Turkey anyone?
