Reagan was mistaken when he thought that she was not political. Her legacy is Texas vs. Lawrence, where the Supreme Court overthrew 200 years of American jurisprudence just because that is the way that they do things in France on the Riviera where rich justices summer.

Liberals should like her because she ran the constitution through her office shredder. The problem with liberalism is that it doesn't work. They tried it in Russia for over 70 years. If people in Indianapolis were to ever want to make sodomy illegal, what difference would it make to Washington DC?

I am hoping that you lot will make her an honorary Democrat and give her the Teddy Kennedy award for courage.

CMG I suggest you start you own topic about how
she irritates you...you have shown a spirit of
mean spiritedness..the topic was pretty clear
and that was to do the right thing and thank her
for her 24 years of service.

How would you feel if someone came up to you
at your retirement or an awards ceremony and told
you..."you know you don't deserve this or deserve
that" its the proverbial faux pax of being the
stinker at the party...like I said you are free
to start a topic thread and bash westerners and
...even the first woman who served
on the Supreme Court..here is a suggestion for
you and then you can feel all puffed up..

"Why I dislike this Woman" and there you go
your topic is ready to go.

Justice O'Conner's problem was that she could nevet make up her mind which side she was on. That other woman on the court doesn't have that problem.

Some excerpts from an article by Claudia Duetch of the New York Times
    http://www.iht.com/articles/2005/07/04/business/bias.php
Few people would dispute the impact that Justice Sandra Day O'Connor had on advancing the rights of women and minority group members when it comes to job and educational opportunities

"I'd love for her to be replaced with a clone," said Roderick Hills, a former chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission who is now co-chairman of the judicial selection committee of the Committee for Economic Development, a nonpartisan group of business and academic leaders based in Washington. "She had an understanding of acceptable business conduct that was tempered by a real respect for the law."
    --------------
Reagan's controversial appointment was never well recieved by most conservatives and it is unfair to place blame for percieved failures of the Supreme Court on just one Judge. All in all Sandra Day O'Connor did add a balance to the Court . Good luck to Sandra and good luck to the person who fills her place on the Court.

Thanks for the common decency and Holy Spirit guided discernment Rocko9 it was my intent all
along to congragulate her on her retirement and
wish her well...but then the thread was hijacked
by meanspirited indviduals who seem to take glee
in putting down a woman ..and a historical one
    at that.

KenH your post does not make sense in this topic.

What exactly are you saying and try to connect
it with congratulating Justice O'Connor on her
    retirement.

You act like just because she retired, we should all be singing, "Kumbaya".

I, too, can appreciate her governmental service and I hope she has a great retirement.

Also, I am glad she is retiring and I hope that President Bush nominates a sold conservative to the court to replace her. If he doesn't, then the GOP will lose the Congress in 2006 and the presidency in 2008.

And you still need to retract your silly statement about Rove on another thread when you know he was not making an obscene gesture. But that didn't stop you from using the camera angle to defame the man.

Wow! I got this out of you from your diatribe

"I, too, can appreciate her governmental service and I hope she has a great retirement."

watch out KenH the knifes are out for ya...cmg,
oldreg...they see this and you are out of the club ;)

The rove pic it is a legit pic..not fake and I interpret it as not obscene gesture but more of
a 3 Stooges style gesture ..wouldn't you agree
KenH ..nyuck..nyuck..nyuck ;) and btw you posted
a confederate rolling pic on this board ..although offensive to me and majority
of my afro american brothers and sisters you are
free to do so ..it just exposes you thats all..
and my rove picture exposes me to standing up to
    the toad.

Disclaimer the above pic is a satirical depiction
the photo itself is not real but a satire to invoke the proverbial ..a picture says a thousand
    words.

Thanks for the kind liberal words! [IMG] Par for the course, of course! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] Imagine coming on the Baptist Board and acting as if one individual owned a thread while flying in the face of Baptists and then acting as if it were a funeral where nothing could be said instead of a retirement where one can laugh at the pompous politics. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] Oh, never mind.

Yes, those flags once belonged to a country - the Confederate States of America.

I am sorry that the flags of any particular nation are offensive to you.

Of course it is offensive to me and millions of
Afro-Americans and it tells me a lot for you to
post it around the July 4th holidays how confused
you really are and who won!(Thank God!the Star
    Spangled Banner won!)

"I am sorry that the flags of any particular nation are offensive to you."

?? okay where is this new country of yours is
it in your mind..a place...an alien planet you
    were abducted too!

I will stand with my minority brothers and sisters
and state it is offensive and feel sad for you
using your freedom in bad taste and pouring salt
into their hurt...that flag has a home it is a dust filled corner in a musuem somewhere..it is historical nothing more nothing less..you seem
to be able to fly the stars and bars Kenh but
not the Stars and stripes...I wonder why?

keep posting it KenH it reveals a lot.

in the mean time here is my counter point to
your coddling a divisive historical flag.

If you are truly "sorry," then why did you re-post the flags?

An honest question, by the way.....

I said I was sorry that he allows a flag of any nation to offend him.

For the record, based on what has happened since the Yankee War of Agression, I am glad that the Union won. But as a Southerner, I wish that the Confederacy had won.
