On another vBulletin/php forum I'm on, they have a "Thanks" button next to Quote, [multiquote],[quickreply], etc, and this is for when someone makes a post you really liked, agree with, etc. and it places a little message at the bottom of the post listing the people who have thanked the poster. It would eliminate the need to make a post just to voice agreement.

(Or would this possibly be seen as bringing too much praise on people, or something?)

This is a good thing and it comes with the standard VBulletin software. It just needs to be turned on.

Correction it is an addon and Andrew may not want to deal with addons as they can cause problems on the board.

It's tied into the reputation system, I think. It has some guidelines that you can't do too many and you need to make sure you give the thanks or points to not just one person. I know I've tried to give one person the rep points on a few posts and it kept me from doing that.

Rep points and thank you tags are two different things.

I've never seen thank you tags then. I have seen the "reputation points" as well as a "agree/disagree" thing - both for vBulletin. Is the thank you tags different than the agree/disagree?

I could have linked to the board where I use them. But you wouldn't see them because only members can thank people. (And I can't see my own Thank button either). And they have it so that only certain people have the buttons. The admins, I imagine, and since it's a Transit board, I and other transit workers have them also, because we often give useful information.

It is apart of the reputation system, because for every Thanks (often several for the same post), it notes that many reputation points in the notification area in the upper right. But it is a separate addon to the reputation system, which I think every board has.

Does the info show on your UserCP on that board? On the boards that I've used them on, it shows the comments on my UserCP and on one board, it shows the comments I've made on other's profiles.

Yes, it sows the "latest reputation received" in the UserCP, and it also tells you how many points you got in tht upper right, and clicking on it takes you to the reputation list.
