Exactly. Why settle for the cheap imitation (Republican pseudoconservatives) when you can get the real thing (Democrats)?

If that is the case, then the tax cuts should expire so that we can pay for these essential expenses.

Especially when some among us really don't have a real understanding of those terms.

Notice that I didn't name anyone in particular. I am simply pointing it out. In the case of Revmitchell, I am waiting for his response, so I cannot currently ascertain whether or not he understands those terms.

Regards to you and yours, Dagwood: hope all is well,

The argument would be incorrect only if you accept that the government should be responsible for providing healthcare for everyone. The most vulnerable already have help available; elderly, children, disabled, unemployed vets etc. Of course, if you think that government is obligated to pay for everyone's healthcare, then you're right, we aren't there yet.

They probably will, but it won't help.

I believe that type of tax increase will make the deficit bigger.

Three trillion huh? If only we knew where that three trillion dollars that went missing from the Pentagon never to be found and never to be mentioned by the government or the mainstream media was we could use that and skate the rest of the year.

Well, President Bush has already demonstrated that cutting taxes made the national debt what it is today. He has made the "tax-and-spend liberals" look tame.

Not only should the cuts expire, taxes should be raised on everyone to pay for this war that is so crucial to our national security.

Yes, $3 TRILLION.............with a "T." And just think: that figure doesn't even include the price tag for the quagmire in Iraq. Now that we are stuck there, that number will go higher and higher and higher.....

Regards poncho - hope all is well,

Like the quagmires in Germany, Japan and S. Korea?

The iraqi govt. has asked that US troops be kept there indefinately, as they are in many other places. It's not necessarily a bad thing. Good for the stability of a very important region, and it could allow us to close our bases in Turkey, fair-weather friends that they are.

The evidence says otherwise. Tax revenues are way up.

The problem has been that spending went up more than revenues.
