    JackRUS,
    My Bible shows where God raised many DEAD men from the DEAD.

    1 Cor. 2:14 is saying before one is born again one reads the bible without Spiritual understanding, the Bible is foolishness to him.
    That is because before man is born again he is Spiritually DEAD.

    Even when people who are born again try to explain spiritual matters to people who are still Spiritually dead, they CAN NOT. UNLESS, God is in the matter and through the Holy Spirit that dead person is Quickened(born again).

    Hi Herenow;
    Not so. What it is saying is that we rquire the help of the Holy Spirit to understand the deep things of God
    1Co 2:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
    The gospels are not the deep things of God but are so simple that a child can understand.
    May Christ Shine His Light On Us All;

    What does the Jews having historically rebelled against God and resisted the leading of the Holy Spirit have to do with resisting the effectual calling of God to salvation? </font>[/QUOTE]
    So, what is different today? Christians, citizens, teachers and missionaries, and I might add, JEWS, are still being persecuted today in diverse places on earth. The whole planet and all of it's human inhabitants want to kill those who are Christian? Nothing new under the sun.

    How can you say that this does not apply today as it did in the "Acts" setting where Stephen made his speech? The people of the whole world still resist the Holy Spirit as they did in the first century and previously.
