    Re: HAC, DON'T DO IT!

Go to Piedmont. So what if you don't know anybody, you will make friends soon enough.

    Extreme,
Don't let anyone try and convince you of any college, Our church grads usually go to HAC but we are starting a college here on Long Island for Fall of 2002, Bruce Miller the creator of Northeast Bible College just came on our staff after 10years over there. We are excited and all but wouldn't want anyone who God didn't lead to us, You should stop asking advice from those on this board and seek God and your Parents and your Pastor, Those are the only People God has placed as your spiritual head, Ask them and then have Faith that it's Gods will, whatever they say.

I agree with Paula. The choice of a Christian college should be made with God's will in mind, not the will of a friend or someone's opinion. Many of the horror stories you hear are from people who have never actually attended the college in question, but are stories handed down from one person to another, many times distorted in the process. Seek God's will and allow God to lead you to that place that He has for you.

    Extreme,
Seeking advice from your parents and pastor is good advice. What concerns me about what you said earlier is that you said you have doubts about going to HAC but you have friends there. Scripture says there is wisdom in a multitude of couselors. Also, Solomon's son Rehaboam in the OT messed up when he listened to his friends and did not accept the advice of older, wiser counselors. Yes, you want to follow God's will, but God's will is found through the scriptures, prayer, and through wise counsel. I wouldn't let your friends be the deciding factor.

And if your pastor tells you to go to Hyles Anderson then change churches immediately! You should go to a real Bible college.

Sounds like you should go to HAC because with a rebuke like that one I would think Satan is in on it. I am sure Jesus nor a "Christlike" Christian would counsel a 17 year old boy searching for Gods will in his life with "And if your pastor tells you to go to Hyles Anderson then change churches immediately! You should go to a real Bible college." It sounds more like Satan trying to bully you!

ChozGod, leave a little room for a sense of humor. She'll need it if she goes to HAC.

    For ChozGod (& etreme)

Its just that a man is not qualified for the ministry if he actually recommends students going to a school on the very fringe of orthodoxy. Not only that, but when they finish and go out into the world they will wonder why they went to a school of methodology rather than a school of Bible and theology.

Satan has nothing to do with it. Perfect hindsight in my case has a lot to do with it.

I have searched 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 for that qualification and can't seem to find it. Did you learn that at HAC? :D :D :D

Well, he must be apt to teach, 1Ti 3:2, that is, be able to give sound teaching. Don't think endorsing Jack Hyles, his doctrines, methods, etc, could be said to be sound teaching.

Paul also ruled out "novices." Novices in my opinion are those who lack experience or understanding.

Well...I like HAC and PBC...they both believe the same things i do. But i am choosing HAC over PBC because that is where i believe God has called me. Who cares if they aren't accredited i am willing to start over at a new college if i have to with no credits. I just want to be where God wants me to be and no one can tell me otherwise. I really like HAC i know people that went there and like the college. BUt i also know people that don't like it i am not basing my choices on other people's opinions. So i thougth i would put my two cents in there.

HAC is a great school !!! Some of the best
preachers went there. I believe HAc is about as Baptist as it gets. And how can yousay some thing bad about J.H. he was a Godly man
yhat preached the Book.In and Out of season.
the only thing about HAC is people seem to worship him as much as they worship God,but we can not judge them of that. But the is also
    OBC,Goldenstate,Providence,and many more .

swaimj, are you still at Calvary? If so, tell Clint Banz I said hello. I haven't seen him in about 25 years. His wife's father was my first pastor, who baptized me in 1974. Clint and a friend of his were instrumental in telling me about the Lord when I was a lost, drunk, drug using, motorcycle idiot. All that has changed except the last. :D

I would ask you to say hello to Dr. Vanhetlo and Dr. Lovic also, but I doubt they would remember me. If you mention me, tell them I am the guy who almost died of spinal meningitus and walked on crutches the second semester of 1975-6 school year while I learned to walk again.

Dr. Thornton was my pastor at that time, and his name is on my License to preach (I hope and pray I have not done anything to cause him to regret it!). Say hello to him too, if you get the opportunity. [IMG]

Dr. Cassidy, I will pass your greetings to Clint Banz. Also to Dr. Lovic who has now retired from teaching now but is the school's registrar (and brought immediate and concrete improvement to that office). Dr. Van is also retired and lives in MI. Don't know if you are aware but his wife was struck by a car 3-4 years ago and has had a long, painful, and imcomplete recovery. Dr. Van takes care of her. Also, Dr. Thornton is not on the faculty any more though I believe he is on the board. It's a small world. [IMG]

Thanks for that update. I have been out of touch for a long time. I will let my wife know of Mrs. Vanhetlo's condition and put both of them on prayer list. [IMG]
