Deleted - this post questioned the modern versions as the word of God.

    Did not.

So then some one was lying when they said the KJB was a modern version.

All translations were "modern" at some point in time...even the original autographs.

Please read the entire thread. For the purpose of this thread we are discussing 20th and 21st century translations.

I read the OP and fail to see this to be of that distinguishment.

Is it your intention for it to be ONLY 1900 and up?

If it is, then you have questioned many versions that are in existence prior.

Read the entire thread, not just the OP.

Please stay on topic. For the purpose of thread we are discussing only 20th and 21st century translations.

Previous threads are not on topic

I am trying to decide if I should buy a new translation or stick with the kjv.
Hey, I am honestly trying to decide here.....this is actually a time that you can persuade someone who dosn't already have his mind made up about everything.

Basically, if you are KJVo then there is another thread where you can state your case.

Here people can let me know why they think certain new translations are good and accurate.

Of modern English translations I use NASB, HCSB and NIV. I like HCSB the best, but still need NASB as it is more literal. I would change my NIV Wide Margin Bible to HCSB if it was not for the notes I written. In Bible Software I mostly use ESV and like it.

I belive the modern version of Noah webster to be valid to a great degree.

    It was 19th century.

What do you think Brother Dale-c?

If I was to look for a new one, I would consider what my pastor uses.
But with me being a pastor, that is a tough one.

I use the KJV 80 percent of the time.

The rationale for the above is to be able to follow along when the pastor is preaching..

If you are not against carrying a big bible... you could get a parallel.
When I was youth pastor, I carried one with KJV, NIV, NLT, and NASB..

I wish we could have honoured Dale's request on these two threads, but it impossible to keep to the topic in either thread. I am suggesting that Dale PM posters on both sides to get their viewpoints.

    Closed with apologies.
