Very few people who wouldn't vote for Senator Obama will vote for him because of his selection of Senator Biden.

Very few people who wouldn't vote for Senator McCain will vote for him because of his selection of Governor Palin.

All the picks can do is change the enthusiasm level in casting that vote. However, an unenthusiastic vote counts just as much as an enthusiastic vote.

Therefore, we can debate over the VP picks all we want(and I think it is fun) but in the long way they are basically irrelevant to how people vote. If they mattered much, then Michael Dukakis would have won in 1988 or at least have not lost in a landslide.
