Many debate the spiritual significance of Christ breathing on the disciples and announcing their reception of the Holy Spirit. God’s breath formed a living organism called Adam, and Christ’s breath initiated a new and living organism on earth called the church. Some say the Birth of the church did not happen until the day of Pentecost. Could it be that conception happen when Christ breathed on the disciples and the birth happened on the Day of Pentecost? Thoughts: It takes 40 weeks for a normal conception to end in a healthy birth. Jesus walked on earth for 40 days after His resurrection. Christ took his new resurrected body to heaven…but he left spiritual body on earth-the church! A spirit without a body is dead. A congregation without the Spirit is dead. I believe that conception started when Christ breathed on the 10 disciples in John and the church was manifested/birthed at Pentecost.
