Descendants of the Confederate States of America are living in Brazil
Thank you for sharing that website. The Confederate exiles in Brazil, as well as the country itself, have long been a topic of interest to me. It seems they have a certain proclivity to welcome defeated foreigners, as witnessed by the Confederate colonies as well as the Nazi fugitives of the 20th Century.
Very interesting! I saw a documentary on TV about this, and the people in Brazil still have southern accents! That was the strangest part of it all.
How long was that,(and what station) I would have love to see it
It's been a while since I saw it, maybe a year or so. It was probably on PBS.
Here is a youtube piece on the Confederates in Brazil:
American Heritage magazine had an article back in '98:
The Confederate flag mentioned in the Americana city seal has since been dropped because it is populated by more people of Italian descent than Confederate.
An interesting sentence int he article stated that Brazil in 1932 also had a civil war!
And I thought it was just Martin Bormann & Nazis hidin' out in Brazil:laugh:
Sons of Quantrill
The CSA is alive and well in the CSA same as the Califate is alive and well in the Califate. Americans should have shorter memories than Arabs?
Awwwwwhhh---The South's Gonna Do It Again!!!!!
and this time they will call it the Tea Party
Think "tea party" has a better ring than The John Birch Society, Moral Majority, Promise Keepers . . . ?
What does Tea party have to do with Promise Keepers?
This could be your last chance to discuss this discussion.
Why's that, salty? just curious, call me dumb......if its an obvious answer.
I wasnt going to bump it any more
>What does Tea party have to do with Promise Keepers?
It has been a long time since a reform movement has changed anything. Christians think they can improve morals by passing laws. This has never worked.
It appears that the main focus of the TEA (Taxed Enought Already) is to cut spending and lower taxes.
The choices are taxes, inflation, or WW3.
