The movie is going to be incredible. I have following this for months. Aslan's sacrificial death and resurrection will be in it. Check out the following for more details.

    From the above page.
    Who is behind this production?
This live-action film is being produced by Walden Media (Holes, Ghosts of the Abyss, Around The World In 80 Days) and distributed and co-financed by Walt Disney Studios. The production company is Frozen Lake Productions. The film has a reported $100 million budget ($170NZ) although Disney has not released the actual numbers that it is paying for this film. Andrew Adamson, co-director of Shrek and Shrek 2 will be directing. The script is written by Ann Peacock with assistance from Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Computer graphics are being handled by Rhythm & Hues and Sony Imageworks. Weta Workshops has signed on to build much of the set and most of the props. KNB EFX Group handled all the design, creation and execution of the Narnians in the film.

Is this going to be a secularized Hollywood version or will C.S. Lewis’ Christian themes stay intact?
It’s no secret that C.S. Lewis was an outspoken Christian and his faith was woven throughout everything he wrote. Narnia is no exception and much of the stories are allegorical in nature. Will Hollywood have its way and strip out Lewis’ spiritual messages? Not so, promises Douglas Gresham, co-producer and stepson of Lewis himself. A committed Christian, Gresham has vowed not to “change the words of the master.” Indeed, Walden Media itself has a track record of family-friendly films so it seems that the film will be in good hands. Many are concerned that Disney's influence will water down the Christian themes which run through the Narnia stories, but it's important to remember that Walden Media is ultimately in charge of the film, not Disney.

Isn't The Magician's Nephew really the first book? Why isn't that being filmed first?
C.S. Lewis wrote The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe as the first book in the series. TMN was written in 1955 as the sixth book in the series. For many years the books were released in "publishing" ordering but have since been re-ordered and are now published in "chronological" order. LWW is probably being produced first since it is the most well-known of the stories. For a definitive conversation of this issue please see Andrew Rilstone's excellent article on the topic.

Kindly demonstrate how they are "blatantly pro homosexual" or "promote homosexuality".

I think we addressed that already. TPN is the first book chronologically in the whole series, but TLTWATW is the first book narratively.

"but TLTWATW is the first book narratively."------------------------------------------------------

TLTWATW is the first one he wrote and the first he published, but not the first in the story line.

Not to sound ignorant here, but I read the LLTWaTW when I was about 14. I was going to church at the time but I was not a Christian. I did not see anything Christian in the book at all when I read it.

I now realize the symbolism of Aslan and all that (only because people have pointed it out), but you have to be a Christian it seems, to recognize that. So here's my question:

Doesn't one have to be a Christian to see the "Christian themes" in it?

Also, Lewis was no evangelical -- he believed in purgatory and thought that most of the OT was myth. I agree he wrote some good things but one of the things that surprised me when I became a Christian was the near-worship of this guy by Christians.

Hope I am not sounding too negative for some of you. I'm trying to be frank.

Thanks for all the great info Hal. Some good information. Thats a pretty high budget so we should see an incredible Special Effects movie. How about it's rating? I'm just guessing it will probably be PG-13. The violence seems to rank up there with LOTR stuff. I think they (Disney) will target that fanbase.

In one of the books, Asland tells the children that they know who he is in Narnia, now they must figure out who he is in their world. What do you think Lewis was doing with that, Marcia?

"Doesn't one have to be a Christian to see the "Christian themes" in it?"--------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't think so but it helps. I mean their is a death and resurection of the creator of Narnia. And he is dying to save a traitor (read sinner) How explicit could one get?

I'm still waiting for fatbacker, or anyone, to demonstrate how Disney promotes homosexuality as alleged.

    Non Baptist Christian
While it is becoming less prevalent, most non-Christians in our culture are still familiar with the basic Christian narrative and will recognize the symbolism immediately.

In "The Last Battle", Lewis also revealed his tendency towards the inclusive theology of Karl Rahner. He definitely was not afraid of untraditional theology and I admire him for that. I think it is pretty safe to call him an evangelical. I'm sure every evangelical holds to some non-traditionally evangelical theology. Lewis more than the average.

The primary reason for his differences from modern evangelicalism is probably because he was an evangelical Anglican.

This is a bit long but for those of you who respect focus on the family and J. Dobson then read on about Disney.

Focus on the Family President Dr. James Dobson Responds To Michael Eisner's `60 Minutes' Interview on the Disney Boycott

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Nov. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Focus on the Family president James C. Dobson, Ph.D., released the following statement in response to Disney CEO Michael Eisner's comments on the Disney boycott which will air this Sunday on CBS ``60 Minutes.'' CBS News released Mr. Eisner's comments in a November 19 news release:

Unfortunately, ``60 Minutes'' served up softballs to Michael Eisner

regarding the nature of the Disney boycott. He should have been asked:

Why does Disney use its profits from Winnie-the-Pooh and Sleeping Beauty

to fund trashy films such as ``Kids,'' ``Priest,'' ``Trainspotting,'' ``Lie Down

With Dogs,`` ''Scream I and II`` and offensive programs such as ''Nothing

Sacred`` and ''Ellen`` through its subsidiaries?

How does the glorification of brutal violence, homosexuality, drug

abuse, and teen sex and the mockery of Christian beliefs reflect Walt

    Disney's philosophy of family entertainment?

Mr. Eisner's disparaging comments against those who are boycotting

Disney as a matter of conscience reveal that he doesn't seem to understand

-- or care -- that families no longer trust Disney. He ridicules those

with deeply held religious beliefs who are genuinely concerned about the

direction the Disney company has taken in recent years. He claims that

Disney is `not pushing any agenda.' We feel that disclaimer is

    disingenuous.

The facts speak for themselves. Here are only a few examples:

According to the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLADD), Disney-owned ABC has more homosexual and bisexual characters on prime time television than any other network. The executive producer of ABC's ``Ellen,'' Dava Savel, clearly reveals the Disney agenda when he made this comment about the ``coming out'' episode: ``If this episode helps some child in the Midwest with their sexual identification, we've done our job.'' Actor Michael Boatman who plays a homosexual character on ABC's ``Spin City'' told ``T.V. Guide'': ``The best way to slide these controversial issues under America's doorstep, into their living rooms, is to have them start laughing first. Suddenly they find themselves, if not accepting new ideas, certainly more willing to discuss them.'' Disney-owned Hyperion Press publishes books promoting homosexuality to children. Mark Gill, president of Disney-owned Miramax, said that his company thrives on racy, often violent promotion for its movies. Disney hired Kevin Smith to produce two movies: ``Dogma,'' which asserts that Christian beliefs are little more than mythology and ``Chasing Amy,'' a film about a man's pursuit of a lesbian. ABC's ``Nothing Sacred'' features a Catholic priest who openly questions the existence of God, curses, denigrates prayer, flirts with adultery and says abortion is a matter of personal ``conscience.''

Mr. Eisner says he is willing to sit down and talk with those participating in the boycott. If that is now true, why has he never made such an offer to this point? I challenge him to live up to this newly-proclaimed openness. So far, Disney has given a deaf ear to our concerns. Its communications department has told our constituents that Disney will not even respond by letter to consumers who send letters of concern on this issue.

I hope that Disney will become more receptive to the views of millions of families who would like Disney to return to the legacy of Walt himself.

Focus on the Family has joined a number of church denominations and organizations that are also boycotting Disney: the Southern Baptist Convention, the Assemblies of God, the Free Will Baptists, Concerned Women for America, the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, Catholics United for the Faith, and the American Family Association.

Other church denominations have passed resolutions that object to what Disney has been producing, but have not officially joined the boycott: the Church of God, the Church of the Nazarene, the Presbyterian Church in America, the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, and the Association of Independent Methodists.

The combined representation of all these groups amounts to over 23 million Americans.

Focus on the Family's daily radio broadcast is heard on nearly 2,000 radio outlets to an estimated 3-5 million U.S. listeners a week. Dr. Dobson's monthly newsletter is sent to over 2.4 million American households each month.

Your kidding right? If you actually look at the synopsis you would find tat Zorro was not gay. He actually pursuing a wealthy senorita. There was a time when gay was not "gay".

Yes, Disney does have a gay pride day, however it is not actively promoted in Orlando. Also if you know the history of the gay pride day at the theme parks, they were started by gay organizations who wanted businesses to step up and start catering to the gay community. They all banded together, set up a specific day, and everyone went to the park that day. They made themselves noticeable by all wearing red T-shirts. Disney was the last of the parks to promote a "gay day". They only recently started doing so, and only minimally, because they were losing millions of dollars to Universal. I do not agree with gay days but it is a billion dollar business in Orlando. It is a big boost to the local economy, and no business is going to turn down opportunities to make money, especially since tourism went downhill after 9/11.

And one more post as long as I am on my rampage about Disney here goes.

Disney owns ABC and has more homosexuals on its station than anyother primetime station does.

Disney has insurance and other benifits for same sex partners not only for the parks but for every other Disney subsideary. Michael Eisner was one of the major players who spear headed this new policy and helped it stretch into every facet of hollywood.

Disney owns a publishing company that printed a book called growing up gay.

If you want me to keep digging I will but I think I have made my point and I can find references to all of these claims and some of which I already gave links too.

So as Disney buys stuff and slaps their label on it all I can say is they have a warped label and is in no way going in the right direction.

That is my whole point, why cant you see that. Disney is promoting what God hates and you act like it is just good buisness sense. I would rather have a millstone tied around my neck and thrown in the sea than to make millions off of the very thing God destroyed Sodom and Gomorah for.

Do most of you christians defending Disney only see the parts you want too? I just want to hear which of you find this acceptable. Filmproducer and JohnV I am really curious as to what you stand for.

You make it sound like what Disney does is just the norm and should be accepted behavior for todays society and christians should fall in line and that as long as they put out a few good wholesome movies that the rest of it should be put in the closet and forgotten.

    Fatbacker,

You entirely missed my point. Disney does not openly support homosexuals. It has held off longer than any other company in all things homosexual. Disney was losing money, by the 100s of million, and workers, by the truckload, to Universal Studios. Michael Eisner was reacting to the shareholders who were not happy. BTW, Universal Studios and NBC, which is a subsidiary of Universal, have more gay content than any other station. The boycott of Disney does nothing to help Disney change it's reaction to the gay community, because they stand to lose more money from homosexuals. Every industry in America, save some religious, is affected by the gay community, whether it be through merchandising, or tolerance. Unfortunately that is a fact of life, which in turn tells me that I need to be a stronger witness in the gay community. Also, if you really don't know what I stand for, please visit my website, for my new film "Sodom and Gomorrah". It is a modern day story, but it has the salvation message. If we work harder to "convert" homosexuals, instead of "damning" them, more will repent and find God, then companies my not be so pressured into a supposed agenda.

The Chronicles of Narnia, religious themes in tack, will be an enjoyable movie experience. I am really looking forward to its release.

You have got to be kidding me. You don't seriously believe that the character of Zorro is chasing after men because he's homosexual? Some words mean more than one thing, fatbacker, and "gay" meant 'happy' a long time before it's current usage. Surely you don't think the phrase "We'll have a gay old time!" at the end of the Flinstones theme song meant what you propose. Look past the end of your nose, here, please. The real meaning is there... right in front of your face.

First of all Filmproducer no one is condeming any homosexual.I am not sure where you got that idea. And I do not believe with your tolerant okay about supporting gay things for the sake of money tells me you do not stand for much of anything and for you justification of Disneys out right support ( read the links) of homosexuality I would never visit your website about anything you produce. You are basically saying that Disney was doing right in so called caving in to the gay community.

And if you read my links that I attached to my last posts you would read about Mike E outright supporting homosexuality and spearheading the organization that got benifits for Hollywoods and Disneys gay, lesbian and bisexual couples and until you show my some links supporting that he does not I think it is a mute subject. I have proved my point and as long as you justify Disney doing what God hates then I can say I am sorry you are turning a blind eye.

And for anyone else who can put some links on here supporting Disneys innocence then please come up with better arguments.

Disney supports what God hates and FP if you think it is okay to do so so that they do not go bankrupt then they are already bankrupt and anyone else who supports them.

My whole point getting back to C of N is the fact that Disney has their dirty fingers on this movie and that would lead me to believe that I need to be on my moral guard when going into the theater to see it.
