Death is merciful; evil men, sinners, know NO MERCY.

"This is the hour and this is the power of darkness then took they Him and brought they him into the high priest's HOUSE" [not yet to before Annas]

And Peter denied Him, saying, Woman, I know him NOT!!!!

"The hour is here and the Son of Man is betrayed : INTO THE HANDS OF SINNERS".

"Father SAVE ME FROM THIS HOUR!"

"God LOOSED THE PAINS OF DEATH" with Jesus' last breath, giving up the ghost, with DEATH.

The cross came to Jesus like "PARADISE".

JESUS' DEATH WAS GLORIOUS AND TRIUMPHANT

O God heavenly Father, have mercy on me, a sinner. What have I, done to your Holy One, your Son?

Here is what I have been saying all along. And I maintained NOTHING else, more or less …Psalm 17, Psalm 18:3…. So that when Jesus died, there was verse 7; and from midday there was verse 8 and 9; and when Joseph had closed the grave, there was verse 11; and when God raised Christ from the dead, there was verse 16 and 17.

Behold, “The LORD rewarded Me ACCORDING TO MY RIGHTEOUSNESS, ACCORDING TO THE CLEANNESS OF MY HANDS HATH HE RECOMPENSED ME. For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God. FOR ALL HIS JUDGMENTS WERE BEFORE ME, AND I DID NOT PUT AWAY HIS STATUTES FROM ME. I was also upright BEFORE HIM, and I kept Me from my enemy’s iniquity.
    For the second time:
24 Therefore hath the LORD recompensed Me ACCORDING TO MY RIGHTEOUSNESS, ACCORDING TO THE CLEANNESS OF MY HANDS IN HIS EYESIGHT.”

“Thou hast given Me the SHIELD OF THY SALVATION : and thy Right Hand hath holden Me up, and THY GENTLENESS HATH MADE ME GREAT.”

There you have the full picture of the whole drama of CHRIST IN HIS SUFFERING.

He was CLEANSED by fire; not burned like dross.

In the midst of Luke 22:54 to 65 and John 18:19 to 24 Christ sang this song,

“NOW know I that the LORD saveth His Anointed. He will hear Him from his holy heaven with the SAVING STRENGTH OF HIS RIGHT HAND.”

“Christ in death" and in “soul’s anguish unto death”, "saw not corruption”; nor suffered He from fear for wicked men.

    Interesting but why did Jesus Christ cry out: My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? {Matthew 27:46, Mark 15:34}

In that dreadful moment, that Precious One appointed to die in our place, experienced being separated from God while suffering / enduring the grievous sins of humankind. There but for the Grace of God go I.

Up from the grave He arose, in eternal triumph.

It has been asked if Jesus when He prayed that the Father would save Him from that hour and night and day of darkness and the lewdest wickedness of sinners, and might let the cup of his suffering pass by, that it showed reluctance on his part, or unwillingness, or fear even—of perhaps failure?

    God forbid!

“Father, save me from this hour” was Jesus’ BATTLE CRY! “He that hath no sword, let Him sell his garment and buy one!” “For by Thee [my Sword] I have run through a troop; and by my God [my Shield] have I leaped over a wall—God that girdeth Me with Strength… the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness… I have pursued mine enemies and have overtaken them : neither did I turn till they were consumed… Thou hast given Me the necks of mine enemies that I might destroy them that hate Me. THEY, cried, BUT THERE WAS NONE TO SAVE THEM… the LORD answered them, not. Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind : I DID CAST THEM OUT AS DIRT IN THE STREETS.”

But who would know? Who would understand? Who would follow and watch the Lord and be not consumed by his pain?
“The Son of Man must suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes and be rejected and slain, and be raised the third day. …There shall be some standing here who shall not taste of DEATH : till they see the KINGDOM OF GOD!”

“Wilt thou lay down thy life for Me?! Verily I say unto thee, the cock shall not crow till thou hast denied Me thrice.”
    O the tender Jesus!
This was no reproof; no blame; no expression of disappointment, but of Jesus’ love for his impetuous disciple. If Peter but knew what he was going to witness…(*) Like Jonas he was to go after Jesus “their Saviour” and visit “the house of the wicked and discover the foundations of the neck”. Peter would “go down to the bottoms of the mountains” after Jesus. He would pay hell a visit. Three times while seeing what he saw the tortured with denial cried for mercy. He went out, and cried bitterly. He who has no sin, let him cast the first stone. Peter is my man. I stand with him as he stood with his Master.
    (*Luke 22:54 to 65 and John 18:19 to 24)

Jesus cried out to God into whose own hands He committed his soul!

Many Scriptures God answered Jesus. God was right at Jesus' side. Acts 2:25 et al.

At the same time though, that the veil of the temple was torn the Presence of God left His Earthly Tabernacle and went and stood vigil over His DEAD but "Holy Thing". God's Presence was according to his omnipotence with Jesus in his very dying of death and as He 'lost consciousness' humanly speaking. Jesus was REALLY human.

    ...I believe...

Jesus Christ was not only really human He was also really Divine. But I really don't believe you answered the question.

Yes, as I also was just sitting and wondered myself.

Can I? Can you, can we?

All we can do, is find and accept what has been written. Jesus and the Father were and are and eternally will be "ONE" at one another's side in one another's OMNIPRESENT HOLY PRESENCE.

as Klaas Schilder said, Christ rose from the dead “in full fellowship of the Trinity”.

That also was how He suffered and died, I believe.

    Note the bolded sentence above.

This sounds an awful lot like "swoon theory," Gerhard.

Yeah, it takes some time to make heads or tails of his posts. I'm pretty sure Gerhard's first language is not English, which makes his posts sometimes seem a tad disjointed.

    I don't know what <<"swoon theory">> is.
But I believe with the Church of all time (says the Confession), in God OMNIPOTENT, OMNIPRESENT, OMNISCIENT...

...which first and foremost means the Father's uninterrupted PRESENCE with and in his Son more in his vicarious suffering of death than ever or anywhere except his Resurrection from the dead and grave.

To fill you in, consider this:
    Here's your statement:
My impression of swoon theory comes from the last bit where you wrote that Jesus "lost consciousness, humanly speaking." Swoon theory states that Jesus did not actually die on the cross, but instead just "lost consciousness" and was passed out for a long time before awakening. It's basically a means of the world trying to deny the atoning death of Christ.

I wasn't meaning to imply you hold to swoon theory, just that your statement sort of alluded to it.

    Thanks Tony.

No, I could not allude to any theory least a theory I have never heard of.

I believe Jesus really died; and therefore and thus did he really loose consciousness. I believe He died our death. No one is going to pay for his sins with a while of unconsciousness.

I always try to say things with Scripture and if impossible at any moment with direct quoting, then with as near as possible word for word rendering. I would not even call it 'interpretation'. As I say, I TRY to; of course I'll always do it imperfectly.

But in 'swooning' I have never believed. In fact the nearest thing to swoonery in my opinion has been Pentecostalism which I loathe.

10, Ons verwerp die sektariese ontkenning en miskenning deur
    geesbiddery, geeskryery en geesdrywery, van
die gawes en vrugte van die Heilige Gees, volkome
in wedergeboorte en geloof in Christus Jesus

We reject the sectarian denial and disregard through
spirit worship, spirit baptisms and exorcism
of the gifts and fruits received of the Holy Spirit
in regeneration and faith in Christ Jesus the only and all Sufficient Gift of God in his grace unto our salvation.
