We are given an idea of what to expect prior to the return of Christ and before the beginning of the Tribulation:

Jesus said, as in the Days of Noah and as in the Days of Lot.

What is so significant about their time and what about their time should be like the time we are living in today?

Just enough time to post a sentenc or two, SGW

    But

The Bible calls Noah ----- "that preacher of righteousness"

and the Bible calls Lot ---- "that righteous man"

Think about the preaching of the "preacher of righteousness"

For 120 years-------the preaching of repentance unto salvation was preached------but after one hundred twenty years----only 8 repented and received the preaching of the gospel "through that ark"(emphasis is mine"

The world basically ignored the preacher------as well as the preaching of impending judgment---the world that "was then" and the world that "now is" is NOT receptive of the "world that is to come"-----and its comeing!!!

    More later

    1) only a remnant (genuine children of God) are saved.

    2) no secret rapture

    3) everyone will see Jesus' second coming

    4) the wicked are destroyed at the second coming while the righteous are saved

... just like the Days of Noe and Lot!

    Matthew 24
37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

"And they knew not until the flood came".

Noah was a preacher of righeousness so he must have warned the people in his preaching.

So, IMO, it's not so much a secret rapture jofuss but an unexpected happening which the world doesn't believe anyway.

The world will not know what has happened until the children of God are taken out of the world and not found and those things in the tribulation start coming to pass. Even then they will run after the beast and the false prophet as the solution to the global disasters.

Its a similar situation with Lot, he warned his in-laws.

"But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law".

    Luke 17
    28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

Only the few chosen of God, they that had believed what He said, escaped.

After we are gone then the wrath of God begins.

Most dispensationalists view the "rapture" as the first phase of the bodily return of Jesus Christ to the earth. But there are several opinions concerning the sequence of events (Premil, midtrib, posttrib, etc...).
Partial preterists fit in somewhat with these dispensational views (imo).

Then there are those full preterists who attribute all the prophecies of the second coming to the destruction of Jerusalem in AD70 by Titus.

There are variations in all views.

There is an abundance of information here at the BB. I believe its good to know them all to some extent.

It seems pretty clear here in what manner the days will be like Noe.

Debauchery seems to be the rule of the day

And thus quick judgement with plenty of warning. But the people are still oblivioius.

Oh, the world WILL be warned before He comes again, just like in the days of Noah.

    However, most will not believe.

And when Jesus comes, these who don't believe will perish.

Think about it. Why would Jesus compare His second coming with 2 events from way back in Genesis where in BOTH stories the major common factor was:

ALL THE WICKED PERISHED ON THAT VERY DAY WHILE ALL THE BELIEVERS WERE SAVED ON THE SAME DAY. THERE IS NO TARRYING TIME AFTERWARDS FOR THE UNBELIEVERS TO BE SAVED! THERE IS NO EXTENDED PROBATION!

LIKEWISE THERE IS NO 7 YEAR PERIOD TO REPENT, NOT EVEN 7 SECONDS!

This event for most people is, as you say "unexpected." It is not secret as many mainstream preachers teach but instead it is the most glorious, awful thing ever!

    To wit,
1Th 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. (IE IT COMES UNEXPECTEDLY)

1Th 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety (JUST LIKE THE MOCKERS DID IN THE DAYS OF NOAH AND LOT); then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. (LET'S READ THAT AGAIN - "then SUDDEN DESTRUCTION COMETH UPON THEM, as travail upon a woman with child; and THEY SHALL NOT ESCAPE.")

1Th 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

    God bless!

There is another thing in common, the small group of believers who were delivered out of the destruction.

Although I hold to many core dispensational beliefs, I don't like the view which says His return for His own is "secret".

The world will be moving along "business as usual" when He comes for His own. Noah gathered his familty into the ark and they "knew not" what was coming, they probably thought Noah was a nut case. Lot's in-laws mocked him. Lot left Sodom and it seems no one noticed or cared.

In spite of the preaching these almost 2000 years the world cannot hear us and are (as you say) oblivious to the fact that destruction is coming.

Immediately after the chidren of God are removed from the world, the world will began to experience the wrath of Lamb.
