For my next open air I will be preaching on this topic as I have not yet addressed it in detail. I am doing my research, but can I also get some help from fellow Calvinists? I think the Bible is quite clear and it is obvious that only the elect will respond to the call to salvation. When I preach I wish to make that clear that I am preaching to everyone, but only the elect will respond to my message. I do not know whom the elect are and so I will fire away randomly as Charles Spurgeon once said.

Looking forward to help from like minded brethren. Thank you.

Paul Washer preached a good sermon on this, you could probably find it on sermonaudio.com. Spurgeon once said when he preached not everyone had the letter "E" on their shirt, so he preached to them all. Something like that.

    Including more

Since we talking about Spurgeon, we should preach as if God is including more.

I believe sometimes we see God outside of time knowing who the elect is instead of God working through us in time bringing them in.

Me and you are in time not outside of it like God.

Some people think they can see things as God, but we can't being and living in time.

Our God is so awesome that not only our God outside of time seeing everything done, but also in time working with individuals.

I praise God that He can work individual with me one on one and be everywhere at all times at one time also.

I wish my father could of done all the things he has to do and work to make the money to pay the bills and also spend all the time he had with me, but only God My Father in heaven can do that.

Total Depravity that we are all under even the elect should make us run to God not away from Him to help us.

Just preach that Jesus came to save sinners....

You do not have to make this clear at all.Just do it:thumbs: If you declare that only the blood can save sinners and the Spirit is bringing conviction...it will happen by itself.
You do not have to declare who you are planning to preach too,,,,just preach the cross .Preaching is preaching not sunday school class.

Why are you calling yourself a Calvinist when you just said in another thread that you believe in Conditional Election?

I don't know how you can believe in Conditional Election and be a Calvinist. You certainly are not like minded with them when it comes to election.

And by the way, Arminians believe in Total Depravity.

This belief comes to us from St. Augustine. He picked up the belief from the Gnostics when he was attended their worship services for a period of time before he became a Catholic. Calvin was a great admirer of Augustine, and that is where his belief came from.

Lots of replies in such a short time wow!!! I am aware of Paul and am reading one of his books of which I believe he has a chapter on the doctrine but I may ned to skip ahead to read it. However it does not look very long or exhaustive so perhaps other authors may be of more help. Does anyone know what book of Macrthurs or Pipers where they speak about this doctrine? I have a dozen books by the authors.

Unlike him I do not have it all together and am learning and growing in my sanctification and knowledge of God. So many these days think they know everything and have little humility.

Baloney, if you cared about this guy you would tell him that Calvinists do not believe in Conditional Election. What are you going to do, take him under your wing letting him believe he is one of you and then attempt to convert him later? Very deceitful.

Pro 27:6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

John, you may be mad at me now, but I am telling you the truth. If you believe in Conditional Election, then you are no Calvinist. These guys are not helping you by allowing you to believe you are one of them, you are not.

I admit I may not fully understand all the doctrines. You seem to be a genius with multiple doctorates whom knows more than John MacArthur, Piper, and anyone on this board. Based on the way you post it would appear that you think you know it all.

I come in humility and am not trying to fault find like you seem to do very often on this board.

If you were really humble, you would not insult someone who is telling you the truth. You said yourself you do not believe the Calvinist doctrine of Unconditional Election, you said you prefer to believe the Arminian view of Conditional Election that believes God elects persons according to foreseen faith.

Well my friend, that makes you a non-Cal or an Arminian, but you cannot hold this view and call yourself a Calvinist. This is a MAJOR doctrine in Calvinism.

And if any Calvinist here sincerely cared about you, they would tell you that I am telling you the absolute truth.

Wow, what is your problem. First for your information, I dont consider myself a Calvinist (nor does people like P4T, Herald & Luke) rather I am an Old School / Hard Shell Baptist & they do not follow lock step with Calvinists. You saw how I argued with them on Children dieing in infancy....so that should nail that sucker shut. Next , and you can look back in the archives, where Ive said I have no allegiance to either Calvinists or Arminians/ these are extra biblical stances....I am a radical Christian--one that moves beyond the liberal & conservative branches of religion & goes back to a fundamental questioning....so Id appreciate you not lumping me into any of these subheadings.

And if this kid has the brass to go into the street & preach the word then you should support him to the max not criticizing him for trying to obtain information from any given source. I'm certain your mouth wouldn't be flapping if he was asking a non Calvinist for assistance.....the truth is your just freakin biased.

I think it is terrific that he has the courage to preach on the street, but he should know and understand what he is telling folks.

John (evangelist6589) has repeatedly criticized Arminianism in his posts for months, go back and see for yourself. He doesn't even realize that he is an Arminian.

The fellow should at least be told he is an Arminian so he will quit condemning them in his posts. He thinks he is a Calvinist and he is not.

He's not a fellow Calvinist with other Calvinists. He is not like minded with Calvinists. Calvinists believe in Unconditional Election, he does not.

John knows the difference between Unconditional and Conditional Election, but he seems not to know that a Calvinist cannot believe in Conditional Election as he does.

Why in the world would you allow him to continue in this error? Do you plan to let him continue to think he is a Calvinist when he is not and later try to convert him to Unconditional Election? That's horrible.

I guess it's OK, cause he's going out preaching against Arminians huh? Even though he is one. Folks should be ashamed.

The guy is a graduate of BJU...id think he would know what he is by now...but perhaps he is changing his views. I have not watched him closely...nor have I attempted to school him. All I ever told him is when I hit the streets....I ask, "how brother or sister is God working in your life"...I am not one to sermonize.
