Bill, a friend of mine posted this question on Face book:

Where in the Bible does it say Ishmael is the father of Islam. What evidence is there of a tie to Muhammad? Clearly, the Bible says nothing because there yet was no Islam.

Would anybody like to answer this?

That is true. Islam began circa 625 AD, LONG after the NT, and obviously the OT was already codified into the Bible.

Muhammad revised the teachings of the OT and NT into an aberration called Islam, and in his Q'ran - which he claims was directly dictated from an angel -- he reverses many of the roles of biblical characters such as Ishmael into the true line of God (called Allah in the Arabic tradition). He ends up with a Misha-mash of thoughts woven about some radically altered biblical stories, and held together by sheer force of the sword.

Note that the Q'ran also says that "Isa" (Jesus) is the highest prophet and gets many of the details of the life of Christ correct (in what it actually repeats) save for the death on the cross. Islam does not hold that Christ actually died.

The big questin: Is Muhammad a descendent of Ishmael ?

Certianly the Bible does not so state, but is there evidence in secualr writings? (or is Muhammands long form missing )

Did God promise to make a nation from Ishmael?
    • And also of the son of the bonds woman, I will make a nation also, because he {is} thy seed. Gen. 21:13

Yes, Angel of the Lord told slave girl that he child would be blessed by God in the sense of physical descendants/nations from him BUT the child of promise was Isaac, NOT Ishmael, and that the Messiah came thru the Jewish peoples, so Islam is NOT of/from the Lord!

Big questions to ask a Muslim are:
HOW is your sin atoned for?
HOW can jesus be a true prophet in Islam, as he said that He was Son of God?
Why do you say jesus did miracles, was Virgin Born, a prophet, yet deny His claim to be messiah and His raising from dead?

How can you KNOW Love of God and the promise of eternal life in islam?
