It doesn't. However, it could fall under the Commerce Clause (Article 1, Section 8, Clause 3) if Congress wanted to take up the issue.

My point is, if Wal-Mart, Amazon, Target, et al want to quit selling Confederate flags that's their prerogative. There is no "right" to buy something in the U.S.

Nothing is being done? Well I can't personally force the police to start patrolling at night. That sounds rather remarkable that the police would concede the night to violent gangs.

You know nothing about gang life in the big cities. I studied gangs in the prison system and on the streets while working in corrections. You are not qualified to even speak on the subject.

Okaaaay. All I've said about gangs is what is common knowledge to the world. As far as refusing to patrol at night I had never heard of that. I never declared myself a gang expert. I'm still trying to figure out how you managed to take us here in a thread about the flag in S.C. We have...strayed.

Hey, don't feel sad; this line of thought is totally in line with The Rev. Jesse Jackson.

Even the comments following are enlightening; why is this not a "discuss-able" issue with the ZEROs, Sharptons, Jacksons, Holders, et al?:BangHead:

Although I would never support those organizations, under our constitution Provided they were American citizens they would have that right. other wise it would be discrimination.

I found 54 verses in the bible that mention slavery or having slaves. Shall we ban it also.

All I can say is my Confederate flag will fly and Al Sharpton or the Big O will not make me take it down. Have a good day.

I'm back for a few minutes. The companies that sold the confederate flags are seeing huge sales in the last few days. One company said yesterday they shipped out two hundred Confederate flags in one day. The Gov. of SC according to the news said people were probably just buying them for keep sakes. She will know the real answer come her election.

I'm sorry to break this to you, but in a nation of 300 million people, sales of 200 flags in a day cannot be considered as a big deal.

Who is the Mayor of South Carolina?

My mistake on the Mayor, I changed it to Gov. I am not talking about the whole nation. Southern people from southern states are the ones that buy Confederate flags.

So because kids ate some plums and some inmates didn't show you love...

You ever deal with just normal black people who are trying to live their lives just like you? You're the type that FOX News caters to because they know they can take your bad experiences and exploit them. All it takes is a little reinforcement.

We had plum trees when I was a kid. Everybody who wanted some could eat them. If you lived in the neighborhood, and you were over at our house, eat up.

I grew up in Mississippi in the 50s and 60s and saw the ravages of segregation everyday. The focal point during that time is pastors of churches turning a blind eye to a system born in hell, which is probably where many of them are. How could anyone with the Holy Spirit as their guide possibly think that was right? And these clowns were leading the local NT churches? The confederate flag has historical significance, but to fly it today only causes problems and IMO is a symbol of hate, exactly a reflection of what I saw growing up. And before anyone aligns this with liberals or Democrats, I am a Republican and much more conservative than the "informed voters" that voted for Romney, member of a cult. Hang the flag in your room, in a museum, but for all I care burn the rest.
