I do not believe there is anything surprising in the GOP starting to rethink where it stands and what it stands for.

Look at the Electoral College vote. That is a landslide.

Obama captured 63.5 percent of the Electoral College.
    Romney captured only 36.5.

If that is not a landslide there never has been one.

If the GOP does not learn from this they are doomed.

The GOP is doomed because there are more folks voting now who don't really care about Godly values than there are those who do. And that's on both sides.

It used to be the party of moral and fiscal conservatism. That base has eroded and been usurped by folks more concerned with being centrist in order to win elections.

As such that base is looking elsewhere and what is left of the GOP is a fractured, divided shell of a party with a myriad of competing factions within.

That can't compete with the growing liberalizing of a nation.

If you want to change something, you change it from the inside out, not from the outside in. The liberals figured that out and that's why they start the indoctrination in K-12. And it then continues in college. By the time they get out of college, you've got an entire generation conditioned to think the way you want them to.

Unless the GOP starts educating folks THAT way, it will go the way of the dinosaur.

In case you are not aware - 49 of 51 States/Commonwealths/Districts (S/C/D) have winner take all.
It might take a bit of work, but would be interesting to see how the electoral college would have ended up if:
    A) all S/C/D were by congressional district ( + 2 "senate" EC - overall winner)
    B) proportional overall vote of a S/C/D

The popular vote was 50.76% for Obama
Obma won 59.24 % of the States

Yes, the Current EC is a landslide ( <60% )

    Salty

Disclaimer: Under the COTUS and current S/C/D laws, yes Obama did win. But overal it was NOT a landslide - which means it was not a overwelming mandate

Higher than both of G. Bush's wins.
    Higher than Reagan's 1980 win.

Most people (out of those who actually voted) voted for Obama only because he is black. The others only voted for the one single pet issue they want and they do not even know about any other issues. (The true definition of a single issue voter)

Obama did not win because most of America voted for him, but only because most of the voters who went out to vote voted for him. Two completely different things. Obama won was because not enough conservatives showed up to vote. They just would not vote for Romney. Nothing more.

The only thing the GOP needs to learn is to begin to find the right candidate for the next election right now who is a true conservative. True conservatives will win every time.

Poor Crabby. He is so concerned about the Republican Party it breaks ones heart.

I would remind Crabby, however, that leftist rags like Time and the Huffy Post are no more reliable about Republicans than leftist Crabby is. I would also remind Crabby that Grover Norquist is not the Conservative base. The Conservative base includes all who still believe this nation was established as a Constitutional Republic.

The Conservative base occupies 90-95% of the land mass in the United States. That is where the food is grown and the raw materials for production are located. Those who have sold themselves into serfdom occupy the urban enclaves. It may take a Civil War to reestablish that Republic but remember Crabby that the Conservative base believes in the 2nd Amendment!

As for Senator Graham he is simply following advice I gave him a couple of years ago!

You miss or ignore one of my most important points ... the US needs a viable GOP and a viable Democratic Party. We need two good parties. History has taught that a country with only one party ends up with very bad things happening.

    Do you agree?

BINGO! I said it back in February that if they chose Romney they wouldn't win because the party base would not vote. Not to mention that God wasn't having it. God's people can't defiantly support that which is against God and think it's going to end well.

We lost an election, but unless there is true repentance on our part for supporting that which is against Christ and the rest of our wickedness that we've painted as good, then the true judgment from God is on the way.

And since we are stubborn creatures given more to the things of this world than we are God's Kingdom, expect a good ole fashioned God-sized whupping for the United States in the near future.

Total economic collapse is right around the corner.

The GOP will never win another national election unless God's people turn back to HIM as the answer. Unless that happens, the very wickedness we are trying to avert is the very wickedness that shall destroy us.

I've been hearing these predictions since the 70's.

When you say "Right around the corner", is that:

    1. less than a year?

    2. One to three years?

    3. Three to five years?

    4. Five to ten years?

The left and the right are destroying the Constitution and the Republic. God gave that which calls itself the Christian right the opportunity to forsake everything else and to honor Him.

In defiance we supported that which is against Him and some STILL haven't repented.

This country will be destroyed because GOD'S people have not repented and turned back to Him.

Right around the corner is right around the corner.

Anyone with eyes to see will recognize that God has been trying to get our attention and call us back to Him. But defiantly, we keep attempting to fix what ails the country and the world "our way" and by our "own means".

And the country becomes more and more unGodly.

If most Christians who voted for Romney would be honest with themselves, they would admit that economics/money was at the core of why they wanted Romney over Obama. We spoke of morals, but it was really the money.

We wanted him to , like a good businessman, turn the nations economy around, bring back jobs and get us back on the road to prosperity.

September 11, 2001 God allowed our "proverbial" pocketbooks to be struck in order to get our attention. The 2008 economic meltdown was a direct result of our practices resulting from 9/11.

Did we get it? No. In marked defiance we continue to set out to fix it our way never once acknowledging that this is spiritual.

So a near economic collapse didn't turn us back to God. SO rest assured that a FULL economic collapse is on the way.

A storm is on the way. And the remnant will understand what the response must be ONGOING while the majority will defiantly continue to look to self and government to fix government.

Right around the corner means right around the corner.

Which party is concerned about the rich getting richer and the poor, poorer? NEITHER! Why not? Because both parties are controlled by the same 1%.

I have a game which consists of a list of rules. Each player in turn adds a new rule. The person who adds a rule which freezes the game wins. Isn't that the game which the Republicans are playing?
