Would you believe I saw this book advertised in a Christian flier I get by mail? Yeah, the gospel according to Oprah Whinfrey. Just how much does this woman need to be patronized? This is incredible. And I thought hearing Joyce Meyers squawking on TV and radio was bad enough.

I once heare her say on her show, that religion was like the spokes on a wheel, they all lead to the same center. She was helping some pagans argue with a Christian by the way.

I think she has already shown how easily deceived she can be.

If you don;t believe the Bible you will fall for everthing else .And to me she sounds very new age like .Speaking of Joyce Meyers.I am not a fan of hers but .I saw her on Larry King and she was more to the point of Jesus saves and no one else then Billy Graham did .And I love Billy .

Only thing I believe about Oprah is that she amazingly lost weight, but then those who believe weight loss comes by any other means than diet and excercise do need their head examined. So? Many will "flock" to the "voice" of Oprah! :(

Shows how much people can miss the mark by just going to church. She was raised a Baptist. The Mormon churches are gaining members by the Baptists and Catholics who do not know their Bible. A 30 min. sermon once a week gives one enough knowledge to be dangerous and be religious while at the same time deceiving themselves by saying they have done their deed for the week.

I am a diehard Oprah fan. I even subscribe to her "O" magazine.

Let me set the record straight here for anyone who is even MILDLY interested in the facts.

This is not a book written by Oprah. The author of the book is Tracie Z. Nelson.

This book is not about the gospel of the Bible nor is it trying to preach anything.

This book is about discussing "spiritual" ideas that seem to run through Oprah's shows: i.e. confessing the truth to others, forgiving others, forgiving yourself, treating other people with respect, social repentance, social justice....those types of things.

The book is not about religion and not about seeking converts to "Oprahism".

Do I believe that Oprah is "spiritual"? Yes.

Do I believe that Oprah is a Christian? Unfortunately, no.

She has just enough experience with the "church" to understand the true gospel of Jesus Christ, but I do not believe that she has actually grasped her need for Him.

Again, this book is not by her. It is about her spirituality in the social arena of life, not about her religious beliefs or lack thereof.

I like Oprah. I deeply wish she were saved.

    Peace-
    Scarlett O.

that's a bit unrighteous of a statement, don't you think? Endorsing a book on a Christian flier is hardly tantamount to any "Gospel according to" anyone, unless one is of the opinion that advertisement are on a par with scripture.

Oprah Winfrey is an enemy of our Lord Jesus Christ and an enemy of His people. The spiritual element that she communicates to anyone who will listen is backed by very powerful, dark, superintelligent, demonic forces.

The Lord Himself warned us about people like Oprah Winfrey and told us what to look for. In the case of Winfrey, these fruits are presented to us without us even having to look for them. These people, BTW, are everywhere and highly visible today just as we were told they would be in these days. That Christians watch Oprah and even love and admire her is both a testament to the seductive power of the demonic forces behind her, and another sad example of the crisis of the widespread lack of discernment among the Lord's people today.

    Beware.

Point well received by me. I think you nailed it on the head when you said that it is "another sad example of the crisis of the widespread lack of discernment among the Lord's people today." Not only Oprah, but this warning goes for all celebrities; we have to protect our teenagers and young adults from their sinister activities.

Oprah is a director of a women's cult, what she says, the flock does. That is why I advise my spouse to watch Jerry Springer instead.

Concerning Joyce Meyers, she knows a different Jesus, one that had to die on the cross (which was not sufficient enough to save us, nor was his precious blood) and be sent to suffer in hell (being tormented by demons and satan) for our sins and then God had to send angels down to rescue him.

That is not the Jesus I serve, but this "Jesus" does match up perfectly with Hagin, Copeland, Hinn, and Crouch's "Jesus".

Here's The Gospel According to Oprah as I understand it...

Oprah Publically Denounces Christianity - Video

"There couldn't possibly be just one way." - Oprah Winfrey

Holy Bible says there's just one way.

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." - John 14:6

Well, celebrities are a different thing, but I would agree. Not all celebrities advocate New Age or Cult spirituality, but most are involved one way or the other.

Nevertheless, I think it's fair to say that any Christian who is enamored or infatuated with celebrities is treading on dangerous ground. For those who can't see it the celebrity thing is premeditated, compiled, and then fed to all those who are willing to swallow. There's a calculated reason for this dumbing-down, brainwashing process, but that's another subject.

For that matter, the same can be said about most everything on TV these days. It's not just happenstance, there's a purpose behind it all, and it's not good. That wasn't true in the early days of TV but the days of innocent entertainment and television are long gone. It helps to understand that 5 major corporations control virtually all of the media in the world. If you're watching lots of television, you are being force-fed a daily diet of ungodly propaganda.

Certainly we should protect our children from the ungodly influence of television and the culture-at-large. But I am just as concerned about adult Believers who have no idea what they are associating with and conforming to. As you underscored, the lack of discernment among adult Believers is astronomical. It didn't get that way overnight and there are a number of reasons, chief among them the lack of leadership in the church and the powerful influences of techno-culture.

What I pray Christians will understand, is that the visible church (consisting of true Christians and false Christians) is about 3/4 apostate right now, maybe more. The invisible church (the ekklesia, which consists of true Believers in and out of the visible church) is being tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine as the evil forces behind the culture and world system are unleashed, because there is virtually no discernment anymore.

We are swallowing - hook, line and sinker - everything Satan and his dominions are throwing out there, both to deceive the world AND vulnerable Christians. We act as if we have been shot with a tranquilizing gun and walk around dazed. Yes, the Lord is coming soon and that is exciting, but these are dangerous times and there is extreme danger dead-ahead. The Lord warned us to carefully watch, and be sober and vigilant when these things started happening, but we cannot possibly be sober as long as we willingly take daily doses of our Enemy's drugs. My prayer is for Christians to WAKE UP, and take heed!

    :praying:

BTW, I watch very little TV, but I understand that Oprah has promoted "The Secret", a popular DVD that is rooted in occultism. Can anyone confirm that?

Should we place Joel Osteen in with the gospel according to Oprah, or his cunning of another sort?
