Saw this YouTube channel a few weeks ago. Good series.

From the Channel's description: 'The Great War' shows you the history of the First World War in the four years from 1914 to 1918, exactly 100 years ago. Our host Indy takes you back week by week and shows you what was going on in the past. Learn more about the Allies and the Central Powers, emperors, Winston Churchill, Wilhelm II, soldiers, battles and of the life aside the battlefield.

There has been a lot of memorial stuff on my side of the globe. You would be hard pressed to find anyone who has lived in Australia or New Zealand who does not have a family connection to WW1. My grandfather had crossed the ditch from NZ and joined the Australian forces and saw action at Gallipoli where he was wounded but survived. His brother joined the NZ forces and saw action at the Somme in Western Europe. He too survived.

Went to Wellington to see the museum displays and Peter Jacksons awesome dioramas. It makes you weep that we don't seem to have learnt anything from the war to end all wars!

What really triggered the war? Can we expect the same to happen again? If there will be a third world war then all the people in this world are at risk of dying. Imagine of all the nuclear weapons that countries have in their arsenals. 50,000 nuclear warheads owned by Russia are enough to destroy the whole world! But I think that countries have learned from the past two wars and they are not ready to repeat the same mistakes.

I read not long ago----a quote(I believe from Albert Einstein) that said something along the lines

I do not know how World War 3 will be fought-------but World War 4 will be fought with sticks and rocks!!!
