    Anybody here seen THE MATRIX? What do you think? While the film is not Christian, did you sense that there were some things in the film that could very easily relate biblical truths?

    Well the main character was an obvious Messiah type, with the resurrection motif. However he was a messiah that didn't seem aware that he was a messiah. That speaks to a view of Jesus (if we do the parallel) that is unbiblical. It is, I think, a Liberal's view of jesus as Messiah.

    However there are some other parallels that are very useful. the bit about how the "enemy's" agents are everywhere, the fact that the world is not really the heroes home, and the
    world being evil and meant to placate people by staisfying the senses are very biblical.

    Neo is a very poor "Messiah" type, true. What fascinated me was thinking about the Matrix itself. It is all an illusion - blinding people and keeping them enslaved (sin / the world). The agents and all - very interesting as well. The task is to free minds, yet those who need to be freed are enemies. The one needing to be freed can become an agent at anytime. How analagous to the Christian and witnessing!

    I just thought it was a good movie. I didn't really analyse it that much.
