How many "f" words in this pix? One such word makes me sick and shut off a movie. I got upset over a minor cuss word in "Princess Bride"!

Now we're promoting as a "Best Movie" such that this is used HUNDREDS of times?

No, don't think I will see it. Why subject my mind to such filth for the sake of an agenda with which I probably disagree anyway.

I stand behind my earlier statement that the movie is pedestrian.

"Maybe if you could see over the steering wheel, then you would 'blake' in time." OK, I get it. Let's just get a figurative frying pan with the word "racism" stenciled on it and bash people's faces with it. That's how subtle and "cerebral" this movie is.

The Oscars are meaningless except in terms of an actor's salary. "Titanic" won best picture, and that says it all for me.

That "Crash" won this award over "Munich" has further reduced my opinion of the Oscars, and I honestly did not know that this was possible.

so how much of the arts do we absorb so that we are not ingornant of the cultures desires or tastes. THe failure of accurately understanding our generation and making assumptions of their actual thoughts is what's brought us to such ridicule by the very same mediums, especially in cartoons. There are of course the more radical expressions in society. But sometimes a film that will show us what we should pay attention to. Take the age-old example: Manet's Olympia.

Nobody told you to see it. People who saw it were giving opinions on why we did or did not like it. You have made it clear that you will not see it, so why even post in the thread? It is a waste of your time and ours!

And people who claim to be christians that take pleasure in unrighteousness are a waste of God's.

'Wherefore come out from amongst them and be ye separate and touch not the unclean thing, and I will receive you saith the Lord.'

Yes, yes, you have made it abundantly clear, in this thread and others, that you do not believe me to be a worthy Christian with a worthy ministry.

I don't need to go into the strip clubs to know how debase and perverse the people are that go to them. I don't need to go into the bedroom of a married man who has solicited a hooker or is in the act of adultery, to grasp the devestation that brings to a family. I don't need to go get some Playboys to understand how addictive and destructive pornography is.

If they made a movie about the "Song of Solomon" that was very "realistic", I would not watch it.

IMHO it demonstrates a lack of intelligence and creativity if you cannot figure out a way to convey your message without having to use the obligatory nudie/sex shot or lots of profanity.
I have seen movies that have done this well (can't think of any right now) so I know it's possible.

Myself and one of my friends like to say that a good comedian is one that can be funny without using vulgarity. The reason vulgar humor works is because it appeals to our sinful flesh. Shakespeare understood this, and worked it into his plays.

My wife can censor the visual images of a movie for me, but not profanity. I generally try to stay away from movies that have a lot of profanity (and ANY nudity). I find it really affects me spiritually and my mind starts to revert back to when my mouth was not pleasing or edifying to God.

But does everyone that goes to see the movie sin?
I can't answer that question. Only God knows that. While I don't think we ought to subject ourselves to that kind of stuff, I thank God for Christian movie reviewers that can warn me of things in a movie I would not want to subject myself to. I think perhaps it comes down to 1 Corinthians 10:23-33 thing; and the old adage "You are what you eat" rings true in this case.

There used to be 3 popular monkeys that I think we could learn a lot from. :D

    A hearty AMEN!!, gtbuzzarp...

Too many give in to the sinful flesh instead of that which is good in the sight of the Lord. We are in the world, but not of the world. If we act like the world acts, where is our testimony?

The thing is, the true child of God should feel conviction for sin in his or her life. We should not take pleasure in unrighteousness. It is a stench in God's Holy Word, as He has said.

If you feel I am singling you out, you are mistaken, I am warning every person who may read this thread of the worldliness and filth of the movie 'Crash.'

Will I apologize for hurting your feelings? No, I cannot. I would say if your feelings are hurt, you need to talk to God and see if this is an area of your heart and life that He may need to work on.

I'm mixed race (part Asian). Does that count?

As for the previous comments of others concerned about worldliness et al: If it's of concern, then do not see it. However, to accuse others of engaging in worldliness, taking pleasure in unrighteousness, not having been convicted of sin, etc, because they chose to see it is wholely inappropriate. Use your discernment, and permit other members of the brethren to do likewise.

It's one thing to say "I didn't see it because I believe I believe I'd be engaging in/taking pleaure in...", and "if you see it/saw it, you are engaging in/taking pleaure in...". Harsh word, kind word, folks.

What does that have to do with it?

I prefer books in general, I think that To Kill a Mockingbird and Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry covered this type of material much better.

I would. We can disagree with someone on the board and adhere to our convictions, and still remain sensitive to the feelings of others on the board. Apologizing for hurting the feelings is appropriate Christian respect.
