    1) Does the present day political entity known as the Nation of Israel have a Divine Right to all of the lands under the Abrahamic Covenant?

    2) Must the government of the US act in support of modern Israel no matter what she does in the region?

    3) Must Christians adpot a policy of "Israel, right or wrong?"

    4) On other words, is there wisdom in supporting an independant Palestinian State, under any circumstances?

    My replies:
    1) I don't know
    2) No
    3) No
    4) Yes, under the right guidelines

I think we pretty much agree more than we don't.

However, the only difference between us here is that while you are not sure on question 1, I am.

    1) No, no the modern day state; the future one will.
    2) No, they "most" not; in many cases it is beneficial to all parties that they do. As a whole, Israel is more right than wrong, IMO.
    3) No, at least not any more than protecting and defending any other nation from terrorist attacks and attempts to exterminate them.
    4) Maybe ... But only when the Palestinians cease their terrist attacks. Until then, Israel should not be restrained from responding and Palestinians should have no international support.

1-It would seem so, but I'm not 100%
    2-No
    3-No
4-Under the right circumstances. PA has to accept that Israel has a right to exist.

A Palestinian state is a monster that never existed in the history of the world and should not now. Before the other thread was closed we were presented with a false case about how so many Arabs got into Israel. Considering that the Arabs are squatters, much like the illegals in the USA from Mexico and Canada, one wonders why statehood should be awarded to them anymore than citizenship should be awarded to the illegals in Indianapolis and elsewhere?

Thanks for your view on question 4, CMG.

In the light of that, would you care to share your views on 1-3?

What guidelines would you set as a precursor to a Palestinian State?

Good question - this is how I like a discussion to go.

It would have to TOTALLY repudiate terrorism and assist in the capture of known terrorists within their borders for one thing.

    I agree.

I would also put as a stipulation that they institute democratic and human rights reforms.

And recognise the existance of Israel as a legitimate state.

Insure that none of Arafat's lieutenants are a part of the government.

    1. No - it's a secular state that bears no resemblance to the OT theocracy other than the name, location and descendants of the people

    2. No. The same standards of behaviour must be applied as to any other state or nation

    3. Ditto

    4. Yes, on condition of renunciation of terrorism and recognition of Israel as a sovereign nation. (There are then the thorny questions of borders particularly Jerusalem and the 'right to return', on which LE has started a thread, whence I am now decamping!)

    Yours in Christ

    Matt

The first three questions are self-evident. I see no one defends how the Arabs came to squat in Gaza and the Bank so I will not bother to document it. I say make Palestine a state the day Purgatory freezes over.

So far it seems that no one posting here accepts the fact that the modern State of Isreal has any inherent rights.

You can argue that what happened in 1948 was unjust. But the state of Israel is there now, and it ain't going away, so that argument, true or false, isn't worth a whole lot except as background information.

So, neither side can get nearly all they would like. Both have to give. I think that the suggestions so far on this thread are good ones, and would add that the Palestinians need some land and promises in return.
