"PARIS, France (CNN) -- Conservative Nicolas Sarkozy greeted news of his election Sunday to a five-year term as France's president with a vow to serve as a leader for all people of France."

==How do you think Sarkozy's victory will affect US/French relations? They claim that he is more American friendly than his opponent Segolene Royal.

Other European countries have already been rejecting the cradle to grave security blanket of French style socialism. Confiscatory tax policies and sky high unemployment rates have taken their toll.

It appears to be France's turn.

I wish him well. He has a mighty long row to hoe.

I wish him well, too. And I won't discuss one big reason why I think he won unless someone here begs me.

Because he spoke tough words about the muslims who were burning cars, rioting, and vandalizing personal property of others last year in France (I think it was last year). He took a stand and was politically incorrect - apparently the voters were pretty tired of the riots, too, and want someone who will take a tough stand against these outbreaks in the future and not be worried about being called rascists or whatever. Oh, and plus he wants to toughen up the immigration laws.

It was time for change in France. I’m glad he triumphant over Socialist, Segolene. Someone made the comment on talk radio “If France rejects a Socialist woman as their leader, so will America”.

Lady Eagle did you know his heritage is Jewish…

Nicolas huh. Wasn't that the name Nicolas Carpathia or something like that in the "Left Behind" series?
