Indeed, there was a brief period where i came close to joining ranks with the KJVO camp (at least in advocating the KJV as the "best" Bible translation).

However, I became extremely frustrated when trying to use the KJV for the purpose of evangelizing and teaching new Christians.

The English language has, indeed, changed radically since 1611 (or 1911, for that matter).

Why make preaching and teaching the Word of God more difficult than it has to be? At least, that is my current mindset.

I haven't read the book, but I have the complete set of "The Expositor's Bible Commentary" and it uses the NIV, and I love the set. It will tell you how the NIV makes a better translation sometimes than the so-called literal translations. But it is intellectually honest as well by telling you where the NIV may have dropped the ball somewhat. Of course, the key is that while we have no perfect translations, the doctrines of the word of God all remain intact.

 

be careful, for if one states that the KJV is not ONLY version to have, get tagged being a "hater!"

 

Strange comment. I haven't seen any rancor at all expressed by anyone who claims to be KJVO either 1thru 5 as defined by Dr. Bob! Most of it, rancor that is, seems to come from the NIV lovers!

Why waste time reading a book defending the indefensible?

 

Why do you spin your wheels trying to demean the NIV? What the Lord has blessed and is blessing throughout the world needs to be seriously pondered by extremists like yourself.
