ver since the explosion of the Black Lives Matter movement, Americans have been bombarded with assertions that black men face a unique and dangerous threat — not from members of their own community but from the very law enforcement officers who are sworn to “serve and protect” them. Hashtags such as #DrivingWhileBlack and #WalkingWhileBlack have perpetuated a narrative that black Americans risk being gunned down by police simply because of the color of their skin. Using individual anecdotes of police misconduct and the now-discredited “hands up, don’t shoot” rallying cry, Black Lives Matter has built a case that American police are out of control. The conservative response is clear: While no one believes the police are perfect, on the whole they tend to use force appropriately to protect their own lives and the lives of others. Moreover, racial disparities in the use of force are largely explained by racial disparities in criminality. Different American demographics commit crimes at different rates, so it stands to reason that those who commit more crimes will confront the police more often. Yes, there are rogue officers — and those rogue officers should be prosecuted — but the police are still a force for good in our society. In response to the allegations of Black Lives Matter activists, the Washington Post launched an unprecedented, case-by-case study of police shootings. After a year of research, the data are in, and they confirm the conservative position: The police use force mainly to protect human life, the use of force against unarmed suspects is rare, and the use of force against black Americans is largely proportional to their share of the violent crime rate. According the Post, as of December 24, American police had fatally shot 965 people in 2015. (The Guardian, in the midst of its own study, reports a slightly higher number of shootings). 564 of those killed were armed with a gun, 281 were armed with another weapon, and 90 were unarmed. In fully three-quarters of shootings, “police were under attack or defending someone who was.”

But we already knew all this.

The purpose of all the false narratives from the left is to shut thinking people up and get some extra freebies and/or other special treatment.

White people commit way more crime than everyone else, yet there still exists a racial disparity in who is charged with crime.

You can post all the inane articles you like because as has been pushed since the beginning of this country, a lot of white people want to believe that black people are the big, bad boogeyman, savaged and a threat to their existence. And thus, unlike Christ , you continue this exercise of vilifying them while removing any responsibility from yourself and a system that's biased against them.

So continue to marginalize and undervalue the lives of black people. God sees it. And that sword that some of you are so giddy about will be the same one with which HE judges your brand of wickedness.

You claim that White People commit more crimes, but you don't offer any proof. I would also like to see your statistics broken down to show the type of crimes being committed.

When someone sits around and doesn't put in any effort to better their situation, that responsibility doesn't land on anyone but them. That works for all people, all races. It might take more work for some, but the opportunities are out there, so don't blame it on me.

If you don't like the system, do something about it. With people like Obamo, Faraken, Jackson, Sharpton, Holder, etc leading you, you don't have much chance of doing anything except start a full on race war.

Having black leaders calling for killing of whites and police, riots over some thug in MO, and to still be trying to use his case when it was shown what really happened. Some black kid gets shot by the police, and all we hear is how wonderful he was, and he was a good student, and the cops just murdered him for no reason. Then the truth comes out about the little angel and his criminal record, along with the truth about the weapon he was holding. But, But my boy was a good boy.

I am not denying that there have been cases which based on what we know, all people should be outraged about. I'm thinking of one in SC where the officer shot Walter Scott in the back as he ran from him. That is a case to rally around, but Micheal Brown no way. Then to still be using the "Hands Up, Don't Shoot" line after the facts are clear, just makes them look foolish.

I sort of got myself off the main topic, but I think it all plays into the theme.

Zaac I would agree with you about the lives of not only Blacks, but everyone on this planet is a concern of God. He sent His Son for everyone, and we need to remember that. My personal feeling is that Satan uses issues like race, to divide us, but to more importantly to him, keep our eyes off of God.

How many crimes are committed by white people and how many charged? How many crimes are committed by black people and how many charged? You must know the answers here, or else your statement is completely incompetent... although I'm quite unsure of how you know the number of crimes committed v. the number therein charged. The numbers might be available of charged v. convicted. But many crimes are committed in which there is never a suspect with enough evidence to charge any person(s).

Kevin, the numbers are available in the FBI Uniform Crime Report.https://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2011/crime-in-the-u.s.-2011/tables/table-43

As far as the raw numbers of crimes committed, white people commit far more crime because there are far more white people.

But the reason we're talking about this is because a large portion of the white population seems to think this is what most black and brown people do.

Who blamed it on you specifically? It simply remains idiotic for white people to think they don't have a leg up on black and brown people in this country just because they are white. The economics shows this.

Umm, I'm led by Jesus Christ. Are you being led by racists and racially prejudiced folks molded in the image of Donald Trump, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'reilly? They all seem to be doing a pretty good job at inciting white people towards a full race war.
Man please. All you hear from the aforementioned talking heads when one of those officers kills an unarmed black person is how evil the dead person was. And them come on this "Christian" board and have folks saying the dead folks got what they deserved. So who REALLY is advocating for the killing of another person.

Because if you're gonna get real about, the same majority that was killing folks during slavery and Jim Crow is the same majority killing folks through a rigged judicial system that allows prosecutors who work with killer policeman day in and day out, to bypass due process and allow murdering police officers to never have to face charges for killing black and brown people.

Yet all you get out of the majority on here and on Fox News and the conservative talk outlets is how justified the shootings are. The officers are never wrong. They can shoot a kid 16 times and they are never wrong. They an shoot a 12 year old in two seconds but never be wrong. They can shoot a fleeing man in the back but never be wrong. They can sever a man's spine but never be wrong.

Then all you hear from the likes of this board and so called conservative outlets is "let's wait for the full details". Yeah let's wait for the full details while cops are shuffled around to do the same thing in a new city where their jackets haven't followed them.

It makes YOU look foolish to speak in such a way about something you don't understand because the rally cry is in reference to the many shootings of unarmed black and brown people. It was NOT specific to just Mike Brown. The only foolish thing about that rally cry is the act that the police no longer care if folks have their arms up. They shoot to kill anyhow.

    <Snip>

Now on this we agree which is why it is incumbent amongst Christians, white and black, to stop acting like everything is okay with the current state of policing in this country when everything isn't okay.

Look at the table. It deals with arrests from crimes. If you've got a source of conviction info, feel free to share it.

But we weren't talking about convictions. We were talking about actual number of crimes committed. That's what the FBI tracks.

It's the same tables that have been used time and time again to show that percentage wise, blacks committed more murders. So if you want to dismiss them, dismiss them for everything.

"1. about one in every 33 black men was a sentenced prisoner and the rate for white men was about one in every 205, for Hispanic men about one in every 79. 2. black men represented the largest proportion of sentenced male inmates at year end 2006 (38%); white men made up 34%; and Hispanic men, 21%." https://www.cga.ct.gov/2008/rpt/2008-R-0008.htm

Of course, what this must show is that there is racism in the justice system, since 32% of arrests are black and 65.7 are white, but imprisonment rates are 38% for black and 34% for white. Right? Or might this be influenced by, for example, 68% or arrests for robbery are black, as are 49.7% of homicides? If it's longer sentences, then I suppose it's racism to punish homicides and robberies with longer ones s.since blacks commit more such crimes proportionally than whites.
