The point that I have been trying to make, isn’t that man(scholars), can’t be trusted:
    (Because most of them can:)

But when it comes down to “who you are going to trust”?
    There is only one answer........
    Psalms 119:99
“I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies [are] my meditation.”

    --------------------------------------------------
Man’s understanding(no matter how advanced), must always come secondary to the Bible.

This verse tells us, that when the understanding of even the brightest men, are in contradiction to God’s Word:
That God’s Word must be accepted as fact! Regardless.

Not a problem, mate. I don't know any here who would disagree. The contention comes about when you or someone else tries to make a single translation the measuring stick.

And amazingly, that verse by itself destroys the false teachings of Ruckman, Riplinger, Hyles, etal. I've never met a KJVO who was not influenced by one of those false teachers.

    Hello Cutter

This is how the other side, convinces themselves that we are wrong, no matter how good our logic may be:
    (By identifying us these nuts.)
    --------------------------------------------------
Now Mrs. Riplinger’s main argument was, that all the changes made in the MV’s were not simply “mistakes”, but were calculated changes, to destroy the faith.

And although I think that this could be possible, it is very difficult to prove.
(So she is now, considered one of the nuts.)

Riplinger has shown herself to be an idiot in her own books, period. Take any of her books and try to validate her sources. She will construct a quote by selecting bits of a sentence or two in one place and splice it together with other bits (without letting the reader know) so as to make the source say EXACTLY what she wanted it to say. She has also been caught making up quotes that do not occur in the cited source. And we won't even go into her "qualifications". Riplinger is a liar of the lowest order and yet many take her works of fiction (the best you could call the rags she produces) as the gospel truth.

I will have to say that I disagree with Mexdeaf in that I have met many KJVO who have never heard of any of those but are still KJVO. Most are on up in years or have been taught by those who are. A few arrived at this conclusion all on their own through personal conviction. And that's fine for anyone who wants to use a single translation.

As I said before, the sparks fly whenever someone takes their personal conviction and tries to enforce it upon others. The KJV is just a translation that has been around a long time. Some say that this amount of time proves the KJV is God's only word. If this argument held water it wouldn't be for the KJV... it would be for the Latin Vulgate as it has been around for over 1000 years, or for the Septuagint which was around before Christ. Or, if you wanted to say just in the English language, you would have to go with the Bishop's Bible or the Geneva as both have been around longer.

Yes, the old guilt by association ploy that is practiced by the liberals in Washington and the liberal media, too. Like when a tea party is held they seek out the most radical and least educated of the group to represent the whole.

Pray show us where this wisdom that you have supposedly found in the Bible tells us that the KJV is the only legitimate translation of God's word. So far, and it's been asked many times, not one KJVOnlyist has been able to produce this verse. Rather, in your case, there's a lot of high and mighty opinion with a cloak of holier than thou legalism wrapped around it.

Really, why do you keep coming on this board trying to force your extra Biblical view down our throats? Why do you want to put a yoke of legalism around our necks?

And this is the problem with KJVO. It elevates man over God's Word; human wisdom over God's word; sophistry over truth.

For these, and more, KJVO must be rejected. It is grass that withers and falls, but the Word of God that the KJVO spends so much time attacking will stand forever!!!!!!!!

    Hello Stillearning
So nice to hear from you again.
Pardon me for this is my observation.

    PSALM 119:97-104

Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day.
Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is ever with me.
I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation.
I understand more than the aged [elders] , for I keep your precepts.

I hold back my feet from every evil way, in order to keep your word.
I do not turn aside from your rules, for you have taught me.

How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
Through your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way.

    Psalm 119:97–104 (ESV)

The emphesis is not on what's wiser or what can be trusted more, that is obvious to the reader and a simple truth.

The lesson is that the scriptures were followed and worked out in his life.
    He meditated
    He kept
    He held back his feet
    He did not turn aside
    He tasted
    He became transformed (Romans 12:2)

    Hello Deacon(Rob)

    Nice response.

    You concluded with..........
The point that I was making was, “he meditated” on God’s Word, not man’s opinion.

Today, most Christians are being taught to look at the Bible, through the prism of what scholars say about the Bible, and I think this is a mistake.

Actually the radical KJVO folks are endowing (in their minds) the 1611 Church of England scholars/translators with a kind of second-hand inspiration in that they (the radical element KJVO) say the English of the AV (1611 or 1769 is not an issue they want to address) is inspired or has the same quality of inspiration for the English translation as the Greek and Hebrew.

In so doing they raise the Church of England to the "true" Church of Jesus Christ in competition with their parent the Church of Rome. Both claim apostolic authority which is a requirement of NT translational inspiration.

Not a surprise that the proponents of KJVO have inherited that propensity from the Church of Rome which (at one time) made a similar claim for the Latin Vulgate.

Saying that 5th century Latin is the "language of heaven" and more accurate than the original Greek and Hebrew due to the apostolic gift of re-inspiration or infallible interpretation of the Scriptures.

Although most KJVO strongly distance themselves from Dr Peter Ruckman most of them give lip service to the underlying errors of KJVOism authored by him. The basic errors are 1) Secondary or "advanced" inspiration and 2) The superiority and accuracy of the 17th century Jacobean-Elizabethan English AV the 1611 AV over the original languages of the Greek and Hebrew mss copies.

Besides the problem of making the Church of England the "true" Church of Jesus Christ by the necessity of apostolic succession resulting in an English translation of apostolic authority, there is the problematic fact that this apostolic CoE spent large amounts of time and money correcting the errors of the "infallible and inspired" 1611 AV First Edition.

    Riddle for the day.

Question-How do you get liberal minded Baptist boxers in a bunch?
Answer at the bottom, unless you wish to venture a guess first.

Answer-State that you love and cherish the KJV and it is the only one you choose to read and study!

I agree. My own pastor prefers the KJV.

However, he would never be so foolish as to say that God stopped preserving His word in 1611. He would never say that the KJV is the only accurate Bible to study from or to read. But he prefers the KJV because that's what he grew up with and that's wonderful.

I very highly doubt that you never read anything by the above-mentioned writers (or others who quoted or parroted them) as you sought to find out why the verse that you cannot remember was missing from the NIV that your pastor was reading.

You may be the lone exception, but I have NEVER met a KJVO who was NOT influenced in some way, shape, or form by Chick, Ruck, Rippy, or anyone else who vociferously acclaims the KJVO position.
